I went with my partner and his brother..wanted a separate room but was all together. After going to reception explaining the error we got no joy was even willing to pay for another room. In fact reception was a joke and staff was miserable.you have to wait for someone to cum to bar to serve a drink usually the receptionist..we had a view of a building site as the hotel was having repairs done.no night time entertainment. Small pool to rear which closed at 6pm. Bathrooms are outdated.kitchen area has microwave n coffee maker only . Hotel is situated up an hill so if you don't much care for a good hike avoid this hotel

I would say "not bad" after first two hours in a hotel room. We got a room from second floor with a view to a pool and towards the Atlantic Ocean from the door. Of course it is not the most modern room but in such condition that it won't be difficult to spend here a forthnight (quincena in spanish). Kitchen had all the necessities. The amount of serving plates etc. could have been larger, but ordinary plates work well...specially we got a room for three persons and we are just two.

After two weeks:
Entrance to this apartment hotel is one of the best I've seen in places this price level. Elevators work well as the WiFi. Hotel has upgraded their WiFi to a totally new level with routers in various rooms and our room happened to be of those so we have had first class wireless network for four appliances. The new system works in two stages: you first log in their WiFi-network with password then you'll directed to a special login page which needs a username and its own password. All needed information is available in the hotel reception. Second level username and passwords are valid for a week and for one appliance/username-password combination, so if you are staying longer as we did, just ask new codes from the reception.

We sometimes cooked our own meals so both cooking plates and microwave oven has been used with good results. The refrigerator looks like a second hand one but it still does its job...keeping our stuff cool there. Even the small freeze box kept our ice-cream frozen long enough.

I have been traveling in various countries and quite seldom found sink plugs in hotel rooms. Our room had both plugs, one in kitchen and the other one in bathroom. We got hot water throughout the day. Housekeeping has been working well changing sheets and towels when needed. Our room has been clean and in order. It could be easy climb to your balcony from the room nearby so the balcony doors have double locking mechanisms.

Room temperature is tolerable in March - no problems to sleep, but this room has no air conditioning so during warmer months it can be a problem for those who are familiar with colder room temps.

We ate once a dinner in hotel restaurant, which seemed to be popular among many guests.

So, the conclusion for us has been: we have been pleased to be here. All the basics work absolutely well in silent neighborhood during nights. We will surely come back.

Room Tip: Higher floors have more privacy

I was a little apprehensive taking my one year old on holiday for the first time. However when I reached this hotel I was so relieved. We were given a room on the ground floor, there were steps up to the pool from our balcony and there was a gate as well as a door leading to the balcony which was nice as I could leave the door open knowing that my son couldn’t get out.
The area is quite quiet but enough going on not to get bored. There was a restaurant 2 mins walk away that had a singer in the evening which was perfect for us. Overall the area and hotel was relaxing and pretty. The weather was also perfect for this time of year :)
The hotel was clean and wasn’t crowded. The pools were a little cold but overall I couldn’t fault it.
I would 100% go back to La Carabela.

Just returned after 1wk with 2grandkids.very good as a base very basic economical apts.Staff helpful and friendly..we were in room 101b right next to the outside pool..the pool is very small and freezing cold but sunbathing its a suntrap.. very long walk downhill to the centre of town 5euros for taxi back up. there is a good bar/shopping area very close by if the hill is to steep to walk down/up..would recommend for families or older couples
