We were not in 2 groups, despite being very different abilities. The owener said "don't worry because beginner and intermediate stay in the same beach but different group". This was the key factor in choosing them over over other surf schools. We did not get the tuition we needed and paid for, as everyone in the group was completely different abilities.

We were not picked up at 6pm, and not even messaged by the owners mother to say she would be an hour and half late. We had secured the time and had called to confirm the time. The receptionist at our apartment told us to give up on the camp but after travelling 4 hours on a plane we waited and hoped.

To add the bathroom was filthy, there wasn't enough water when on the beach so we brought our own, and you have to pay for transport to where you have to surf, outside of the lessons. This is an important additional expense in addition to paying for the boards/ rash vests outside of lessons.

I have been to other surf schools before and the teaching was pretty much non existant in this one.

That said, the friends we made there were amazing fun (as are most people with a shared intestert in surfing) and we even continued our holiday together with them in another town.

I went to Lanzarote for a week to have a good rest and to have some fun surfing. Both needs were completely satisfied :-) The appartment in La Santa has all the equipment you need and there's a terrace on the roof, were you can sit, lie down in the sun as well as in the shade. The people from the staff are really nice and very enthousiastic. Concerning techniques about surfing and teaching: they are really professional. The area of La Santa and Famara is quiet and beautiful and makes you feel at ease, it gives you some kind of well-being. The people in town are friendly and easygoing, the climate is lovely. I have to say the staying overthere was great and I even got a bit nostalgic returning home. I would certainly recommend it!

Everything Kalufa surf school had to offer was awesome. If you want to surf and have a good time doing it, Lanzarote is the place to be. The vibes are easygoing and friendly. If you stay in the surf house you are surrounded by like-minded people who love to surf. The surf instructors are super fun, teach you a lot and get you pumped on surfing. Everyone at Kalufa Surf school is like a big family that you will miss when you leave !

I spent a week at Kalufa surf school in April, accomodations, equipment rental and lessons. I had only positive experiences and would recommend it to anyone.

First - Accomodations. The week before I arrived, the head instructor, Roberto, emailed me to see when my flight arrived. He offered me four different options for how to get from the airport to the surf school and made sure I was all ready for when I arrived. The accommodations were great - I stayed in the surf house, which is right on the water in front of the pipeline, and had a great living room and a roof terrace. If you have groups, they can set you up with shared apartments, private apartments, or a private house, and the prices are really cheap.

Second - Equipment. This really ties into the surf lessons. Roberto is amazing, he's a great surfer, knows the island incredibly well. Every morning he would scout with us to find the best spot, and teach us how to pick a location to surf. He would bring equipment for us to suit the day - one day a wetsuit, the next day booties in case we walked on rocks, and he would change our boards based on what we needed to progress. Great.

Third - Lessons. Again, Roberto is great. Not only did he teach us surfing technique, he taught us how to continue to progress. Every day we would surf for 6 hours with a short break to eat, and Roberto would give us advice the entire time. Somedays he would take photos or film, and after surfing we would go back and watch ourselves while he critiqued. I progressed a lot, as did everyone.

Conclusion: If you're looking for a good surf destination, Lanzarote is great, and Kalufa Surf made it super easy and at a great price. I highly recommend.
