This restaurant is a little way out of town but worth the short walk for a very good location. The views across to Tenerife being excellent. Good food and the service very good from friendly staff.

Lovely service. They dont take credit cards and unless you can read in Spanish you will be unaware of this. Local food and seems to be a family run restaurant. The house wine was fantastic. Goat is a speciality here too-no kidding!

This hideaway little gem was a lunch time blessing. After strolling round San Sebastian looking for somewhere interesting to have lunch we almost gave up but decided top wander down towards the Ferry Port. Surely there can't be much worthwhile down there we thought. Spying a tunnel we wander through ro come to a plaza area with a (very stony) beach with waves crashing into the sea wall and there tucked away in a cave was El Charcon. We sat outside so we could watch the waves crashing over the sea wall - and the children trying to dodge them. The waitress brought out the day's catch for us to inspect. We didn't take up the offer as we were looking for something lighter and had already seen the size of the meals other diners were getting...but next time... So I went for the prawns, plenty of them & she went for the risotto - both delightful washed down with a bottle of OK white wine, followed by just a coffee all at a very reasonable price (€35.00). Next time it will be the fish!

The rather small restaurant built into a rock on the harbour had a free table when we arrived at 8pm, but later filled up and was turning people away. We tried to order two portions of the traditional almagrote pate, but the waiter told us one was enough. He was right, it was very pungent with smoked goats cheese, pimento and gofio, a kind of local flour. Unforgettable, and worth trying, once.
We shared a large whole sea bream as our main course which was served plain grilled with lemon, vegetables and Canarian potatoes. Nothing beats a top quality fresh fish, and this was excellent and simply cooked was best. Accompanied with a decent bottle of local Listan blanc wine from La Palma, we were more than content. The price of €62 for two was a pleasant surprise.
