As the name of the hotel suggests, you are just a well aimed goal kick away from the home of Athletic Club.
Thirty six euros for a single room with an en-suite bathroom suited me fine.
There is a twenty four hour reception also.

Old hotel near the stadium and the buss station. If you don't mind paying too much and the noise of the traffic and the stadium. Old rooms with old beds. Shabby place in a shabby area. The only positive thing is that it's near the bussstation to get to the airport if you have an early flyght.I won't go bak.
The other reviews of this hotel are pretty accurate. Good location, clean, good water pressure, great WiFi, secure and safe are all positive. The price is reasonable. However the walls are thin. Not much in the way of amenities. Beds are very basic.
Stayed for 9 days with my wife.
+++ good location regarding the airport, metro, buses, boats, city center, etc. The bus from airport arrives at bus terminal (4 min walking distance from the hotel). The bus ride airport ->hotel lasts 15-25 min and comes every 15 min and costs 3 EUR. From the same station you can take buses to a wide variety of destinations in Spain, France, Portugal;
+++ walk to city center (old city) lasts 20 min - really close;
+++ plenty of places to eat day and night near by the hotel;
+++ 3 min walk to the Athletic Bilbao stadium (for football fans);
+++ possible late check-out and luggage room (free of charge);
--- old looking, untidy, smelly place;
--- the view from the room is towards other apartments;
--- constant smell of food and garbage in the room;
--- no vault in the room so you have to keep your valuables at the reception, "guaranteed" by receptionist's "signature" :))
I chose this hotel as it was close to the bus station for a €3 bus ride to the airport. It's also close to the football stadium as I found when the home match didn't finish until midnight! Unexceptional but good value, clean and OK for a short stay. Quite a long walk to the old part of town and the Guggenheim but pleasant along the river.
I arrived late at night, check in was swift (reception is open 24/7) and I was quickly in my room. The room furniture was simple and a bit outdated as other reviews pointed out, but the room was clean and had everything I needed. There were enough outlets to charge electronics (this was not the case in other places). The bathroom was also very clean and everything worked well. Wifi worked perfectly. Because the walls are on the thin side and because the pension has quite a few rooms, some noise could be heard. Check out was as swift as the check in and I could leave my backpack there until departure time while I explored the city.
I was quite satisfied with this pension, it is clean, safe and close to the bus station (literally 5 minutes walking) but still at walking distance from the centre (25 minutes or so). I thought it offered good value
