Wanted a hotel with on-site secure parking. Hotel is comfortable and staff (especially Tatiana on reception) were friendly and helpful. Bilbao centre was within 15min walk of the hotel which was fine.

We were forced to stay in a hotel in Bilbao after a car breakdown during a bank holiday delayed our journey to our new home in Malaga province by 4 nights. It was the only hotel available that would take both us and our dog, Luna and we received a welcome pack of a bed for her, a bowl and treats too! We had bought meat for the friends we were going to stay with and so they offered their freezer to preserve it, they translated for us over the telephone when we needed to speak to the garage about our car repairs and allowed us to have our meal from the restaurant in our room too as we had Luna and couldn’t leave her for long.
Thank you to all the staff for all your help and support this past week as it was a difficult time for us and you made it pass smoothly and with a smile.
The room itself was incredible, super king bed, hot water all the time, good wifi and clean as a new pin!
This is my second visit to this hotel, this time a 3 night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived at 11pm. Check in was smooth but information on the hotel and facilities was not forthcoming (e.g. times of breakfast, dinner, WIFI, time bar closed, local recommendations etc).
Room was very spacious, clean and shower worked well. Interesting wall mural. Walls a little thin so we could hear next door’s activities.
We had dinner one evening and breakfast one morning. Both were very good, freshly cooked and well presented. We would recommend the salmon supreme.
Super helpful waitress who recommended the local wine, which was delicious.
Very thoughtful of the hotel to give us a bottle of fizz to celebrate our special occasion. We will be back to stay if we return to Bilbao.

Check-in is tricky at this hotel! Be prepared! They require you to check in prior to arriving at the hotel and the website is very unreliable. It took us quite a bit of time to complete the process. However, when we arrived, the front desk staff was EXCEPTIONALLY welcoming and appreciative that we completed the process online prior to arrival. There is a restaurant that provides meals and great service. The hotel is not central to the city center, but not far either...we were able to walk to local restaurants and shops. We did park at the hotel, but it is tricky to figure out. There is really no check-in parking at the front of the hotel and no signage to direct you. We basically just pulled straight into the parking garage and sorted out the parking once we got to the front desk. The customer service at this hotel is what really makes it stand out. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
I had a very pleasant experience during my stay at Hotel Gran Bilbao. I found the hotel to be clean and comfortable, and truly enjoyed their plentiful breakfast buffet. The room had a king size bed, air conditioning, and strong WiFi.
Covid protocols meant that the hotel’s gym was closed, and certain items were not to be found in the room.
The hotel is a good 15 to 20 minute walk from the city’s historic district. It was not a problem for me, but I imagine it could be for others.
Nice hotel with good facilities and a really good breakfast. Even at 18 Euros pp breakfast was a lovely treat.
What makes the hotel a stand out is that all of the staff from reception, housekeeping and restaurant really get what customer service is all about. The people are the glue that holds this place together. They are friendly, polite and enthusiastic to do a great job. Nothing is too much trouble and it really shows through.
From a customer service perspective, it is the best run hotel I have stayed in for years. Very well done to you all
