“Small apartment in an interesting area”
Reviewed 13 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This upstairs apartment has a very small bedroom with a tired bed. However it's location on the alameda is good, with close restaurants, shops, and extensive , sometimes crowded, public spaces. The apartment is quiet despite the noise in the street.
Walking into the city centre and major attractions takes 20 to 30 minutes. A taxi to of from the train station costs 7 to 12 euros..
The hosts were friendly and helpful , if somewhat tardy in allowing our original ingress.

“Lovely apartment; great experience.”

We loved our stay at Apartment Alacas. We are a mature couple traveling with our adult daughter. I'll get the only criticism out of the way right now -- the sofa bed was not comfortable at all; my daughter ended up putting the mattress on the floor to get a proper sleep. This being said, this is a great apartment, and great value for your money. It is comfortable (more spacious than others we stayed at, although the bathroom was tiny), quaint, equipped with everything you need, cool despite the 36 degree weather when we were there (I loved that Walter had a fan on a stand that cooled the apartment adequately - we didn't have to turn on the air conditioning once). Walter was a pleasure to deal with. Not hanging about and in your space, but responded to any questions you had immediately. It was quiet over all (there was some internal noise, but nothing that bothered us); this despite the fact that it's on a busy square. I will be honest and say that, at first, we questioned our choice of neighbourhood. Apt Alacas in not in the touristy, well groomed neighbourhoods we also looked at. As Walter accurately states, if you want a typical Sevillian experience, this is the neighbourhood to be in. At first, we walked along the riverfront to orient ourselves (and taking the long way to the city centre as we found out), and I was a little dismayed to find it quite unkempt and run down looking. Of course, before long, we found ourselves surrounded by the beautiful sights of Seville, and there is nothing unkempt about the city here. Seville is a gorgeous city! The following day, we took the opposite route and realized that we were just mere blocks away from a first class shopping district (this included a Cortes Ingles supermarket that had everything you needed, including bottled milk! I could never get quite used to milk in tetrapaks)... and the Cathedral and other sights within blocks. So very quickly, we realized that Alameda de Hercules was the perfect place to stay. In the evening, it came alive... people, kids, dogs... and a great selection of eating/drinking places. I loved that there were little waterparks here and there where kids played to cool off. This is an unpretentious neighbourhood, and we loved it. It didn't hurt that we had probably the best tapas of our entire trip right next door -- Al Aljbibe -- lovely waitress who smiled graciously at our attempt at Spanish. Also, despite the fact that we planned to eat breakfast in the apartment, across the square was a placed called Le Columna(?) that provided the most delicious toast and coffee we found anywhere for a mere 2 euros. Fresh squeezed orange juice in Andallucia is so cheap! What a treat. Value for money, this is a great place to stay.
