I would recommend going to the Real Alcazar early in the morning, so it's still quiet. Nice gardens and rooms.
I would recommend going to the Real Alcazar early in the morning, so it's still quiet. Nice gardens and rooms.
The entrance is rather hidden behind the Cathedral but well worth the effort. The building is labyrinthine but the decoration, plasterwork, tiling etc. are a sight to behold. A must do if in Seville.
One of the most beautiful Moorish palaces! It’s as magnificent as the Alhambra. The spacious gardens are just breathtaking! I love the peacocks are wondering around freely in the café where they are likely to get some food :)
When you come to The Alcázar, there is long line always.
There are actually three lines, the RIGHT line is the longest (could be around the block), is for people “without ticket”.
The other two lines are very short, or no lines at all. MIDDLE line is for people with advance purchased ticket. The LEFT line is for tour group.
So, it’s smart to get ticket in advance. It’s not as bad as the Alhambra which you have to get ticket month ahead. You can get The Alcázar ticket two weeks ahead.
It’s tricky to find official website online. A lot of “travel agents” try to sell private tours for more money.
For official website, click the website link on Real Alcazar on TripAdvisor. (I can’t put the direct link here). After few clicks, it will take you to ticketing,
Get the General Tour + Cuarto Real Alto (high royal quarter), for 15€.
The General Tour is 10€.
Cuarto Real Alto (high royal quarter, or upper apartments) are 15 glamorous apartments on second floor where the King of Spain still resides when he is in town. It’s absolutely stunning! (Alhambra doesn’t have these.)
It only opens until 1:30 pm, limits 30 people every half hour.
Most of the people without advanced tickets don’t get to see this, don’t even know about it.
When you purchase “General Tour + Cuarto Real Alto” ticket in advance. Have to pick a time slot.
15 minutes before your time, go up to second floor royal quarter, they will give you an audio set, examine your bag, lock the bag in the storage closet closes by. Then a security guard will lead everybody enter the apartments.
The guard will lead everybody from room to room slowly. NO photos are allowed. The audio tour is pretty good, has plenty information.
Exactly 30 minutes, you leave the royal quarter and are speechless.
For rest of the palace and garden, you can hang out as long as you want.
We were so lucky to visit on a wonderful sunny afternoon in November .The gardens are a delight with hidden gems .
Small cafe , sit and realax couldnt be better.
Steeped in history, another must visit sight to see in Seville. Don’t be put off by the queues as a 50mtr queue as it soon subsides. We felt the gardens were the main event here but glad w3 visited.
Took 2 days to go around some attractions in Seville. This one was a full morning visit and is well worth the entry fee. We were there in November and at opening time there was a small queue so I suspect in busier periods there could be a wait to get in so go early. A wonderful place and a must see whilst in Seville.
