We stayed at the Hotel Macia Plaza during our two night trip to Granada. The location is fantastic and we popped for a front facing view of the main square and the castle on the hill. The staff was very nice.

The room was college dorm room tiny with two twin beds (we got the Rick Steves' 15% discount). The bathroom was clean but had a funky sewer gas smell in it. The breakfast room was terrific and had a nice assortment of things to eat.

Again, for the money you cannot beat the location! You are not in the room very much so its size wasn't really an issue.

The rooms were very comfortable and the hotel was convenient. We were within walking distance to the bus stop to the Alhambra. We were able to eat out front of the hotel with the restaurant next door. The shops were close by and everything was convenient. Our room was on the street side and the noise was minimal with the window closed. It was fun to people watch. The taxis line up and wait for riders. Many friendly people walking and talking.

Great location in the heart of Granada: perfect for walking to any tapas bar in town and for exploring the historic hillside neighborhood behind the hotel with its gorgeous views, but also just down the hill from the Alhambra. Staff are friendly and professional.

I stayed in a single room, but was pleased to see a small double bed instead of a twin bed. The room was small, but adequate for one person -- a bit claustrophobic, though, since the windows were frosted and just looked onto a light well.

Bed was OK, but linens were clean and fresh. Outstanding water pressure and hot water in the bathroom.

Everything was very clean and housekeeping was friendly and did a nice job.

My room (303) had a problem with the a/c where it made a loud noise every few minutes, which made it hard to sleep with the unit on -- luckily it was't super hot when I visited.

Overall, this is a solid choice, but it does seem a bit overpriced when you consider some of the other pensions and apartments on offer in town. I guess you are paying for convenience the great location.

The small size of our room kept me from giving it a "5". Otherwise being in the front with a balcony was very nice except when there were lots of people on the Plaza later at night. Bath was reasonably modern and clean with cabinet storage. Excellent location for restaurants, shopping and attractions. At check out we grabbed a cab in front to head to the bus station. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful giving us several suggestions for veggie friendly restaurants. The breakfast room is in the basement but still spacious and pleasant with a good assortment of hot & cold items. Only negative was weak coffee even using the bean machine.

Room Tip: Front can be a bit noisy but nice to have balcony - maybe a higher floor than 2nd?

Hotel Plaza Macia is well located in the old town. Our room was basic but very clean, comfortable and quiet. Don't drive to the hotel to unload in spite of advice given by the hotel. The hotel sign is at eye level beside the door and is difficult to spot while driving around the plaza. If you do drive in the old town, be prepared for extremely narrow streets and be sure to give your license plate number to the hotel so they can register it with the police -- otherwise a fine could be involved. It's best to use a car park and walk into the old town.
