Wanted to try a Carmen and found this one tucked away off the beaten path! We had a beautiful table with a gorgeous view of the Alhambra! The gardens are stupendous! Make sure you walk through them! The food was amazing - we were three so we tried as much as we could! The oxtail was the favorite main and the watercress salad and fried eggplant tied for starters. I asked for a traditional gazpacho and even though it was not on the menu they made me a delicious one which I will not forget!! Don’t forget dessert - we tied for the chocolate mousse and the white chocolate soup. Sergio was our waiter who did a great job helping choose the best wine on the menu for us! Gorgeous way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!

Our first impressions of this restaurant were gained when dealing with Natalia on the phone, when we called to confirm our reservation. She spoke clear English, was friendly and very helpful. She explained, for example, that the tables on the terrace are only for two people, so offered to split our table of four into two separate tables.

When the evening came the weather was unusually cool, with a threat of rain, but once again the service from Natalia was perfect. She’d anticipated that we’d prefer to eat inside and so had reserved a table for four against the huge floor-to-ceiling window, giving us a superb view of the Alhambra.

We’d booked through The Fork, with a 40% discount on the a la carte menu. When we came to pay there was some confusion because The Fork had recently changed their policy, but it was Natalia to the rescue again who sorted out the problem quickly and without fuss.

Service by Natalia and her team was friendly and unobtrusive and we were left to enjoy the meal at our own pace. The menu is modern Spanish with creative twists and they are very accommodating of food intolerances. Portions might seem small but you shouldn’t go there to fill your belly until bursting, but to savour interesting flavour combinations and the amazing view. Perhaps the only constructive criticism would be that we found some of the food too salty for our taste, though at home we do cook with little salt. The wine was very good (a red Catalan from a good list).

The (very clean) loos are reached via lovely terraces, giving you the chance to gaze yet more at the amazing Alhambra.

The food, wine and setting were perfect. Every course was excellent, especially the seviche, eggplant and grilled ox. The waiters recommendations for food and wine were perfect.

The location is just amazing: spectacular views of the Alhambra, in a historic building with beautiful garden. The food is very creative and delicious, portions are quite big. The service is also excellent. It's a place you can not miss while in Granada!
