We had booked this hotel for a 2-night stay at the start of our holiday. It's not very easy to find, but when we arrived (hours before check-in time), we were made to feel very welcome. It's a family-owned hotel, run by two brothers with help from their parents. One of the brothers, Antonio, speaks good English and was very friendly and helpful to us.
The hotel is about 2 miles from the centre, with plenty of free parking nearby. It's on a bus route, which makes it easy to visit the city without the problems of navigating and parking. A taxi back from town (after the buses had stopped) cost us just under 5€.
It has cafe and restuarant, with a small shop, all of which are used regularly by locals, so we really felt we'd arrived in Spain. Breakfast can be bought in the cafe, and the restaurant does a good-value complete lunch for only 7€. There's a computer with internet access available.
The rooms at the back have panoramic views over the city to the sea (the view includes building sites and pylons, but is still quite splendid). The twin-bedded rooms at the side just look out onto a wall, so we were glad we'd paid the extra for the double with view. It was all very clean and comfortable, with a small but spotless bathroom.
For visitors who want to get out of the city and explore the countryside nearby, the hotel is well placed, as it's on the road that leads directly out to the Montes de Malaga.
The welcome we received at Casa Vazquez really got our holiday off to a good start.
