The hotel is a little tricky to find via car, with all the one way streets but it is certainly worth the effort. The decor is gorgeous - a combination of fashionable boutique style with old fashioned palatial. Our suite was spectacular - it was oval with a museum like feel to it but very comfortable and the updated bathroom was through a separate door. We had a memorable gourmet dinner in the hotel restaurant served by the charming and personable waiter Javier, who gave us first-rate service. We walked through the streets oozing with historic character to meet our guide for a city tour with highlight being the unforgettable and amazing mesquita. Our stay in Cordoba was a highlight of our trip to Andalucia thanks in part to a wonderful stay at this hotel and the excellent service provided by staff.

This is truly an enchanted place. It provides layers of Andalusian architecture, art, and history. It is primarily 16th-century Spanish architecture but sits above Roman ruins (which can be seen through a glass floor in the main dining room) and features Moorish gates and courtyards. It was a private residence for Cordoban elites before being converted to a hotel. Be sure to spend time in the main courtyard with a glass of wine to enjoy the orange-tree fragrance and Andalusian ambience. The interiors are themed in historical context (which is difficult to Google since most information is in Spanish-only sites). All of this would be enough, but when you add the friendliness, competence and helpfulness of the staff, Palacio del Baillio becomes a must stay experience. Cordoba is a city with soul and good people, this hotel embodies that fully.

Room Tip: Get a room with courtyard view, rooms 108 and 109 are very good.

Palacio de Bailio is the exquisite property, classy, simply wonderful in all aspects. It's the hotel with the »personality«, a mixture of art, culture and a modern hotel. Rooms are beautiful, big, clean, quiet, we even had our private patio. It has a serene and lovely garden, fantastic spa, delicious food and very close to main turistic attraction. It's a kind of hotel that you want to retun just for having another opportunity to enjoy its beauty and comfort again. We are looking forward to come back as soon as possible to spend more days there. What gives an additional luxury to the hotel it's the staff. I've travelled a lot and I've seen lots of hotels and staff, but in Bailio they do it really great. They are not only professional, but they are warm, caring and showing all they effort to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. All the staff is great, but special thanks to Mr. Rafael Luque. Warm and kind regards to all. And congratulations for such a good managing of the hotel and the beautiful place you all made out of it.

We loved this hotel, set in what was a private mansion, but completely redone in exquisite, spare taste. Highly recommend Room 16, set off the garden patio, but completely quiet. The room's huge, with its own little private courtyard. The staff could not be more welcoming and helpful - we were served teas and cake when we arrived. Restored Roman villa in the basement that you can visit and be sure to try the Roman baths there too - completely rebuilt to modern specs but very closely following design of the original. Great breakfast, with sparkling wine, excellent selections of meat, cheese, smoked salmon, yogurts, pastries etc, and scrambled eggs with choice of toppings offered too. Terrific location. This one's a winner.

I will save you having to read the last 50 pages of reviews on this hotel and give you salient points:-
Mosque (mezquita) €10 per person without guide / Guided visit €40 (no need to pre-buy tickets)
Arab baths 30 mins €30 or baths + 15 minute massage €41 (no need to buy this as roman baths in hotel are fantastic
One previous customer complained of wedding in hotel till 3am. Our main problem was that we stayed in early November so they had turned off the AC and only had heating. This meant that we had to leave the window open (even though I asked for a quiet room and then when shown the room asked if it was quiet outside) we still woke very early as noise from outside.
Hotel nice size very close to busy streets.
Garden and outdoor pool area looked lovely - open until end of October. Would have been lovely if we visited 2 weeks earlier when open. Courtyard has lovely lemon / orange trees.
People felt food in hotel not good - we had lovely meal on main square 3 mins walk from the hotel.
Ask for a room with a view.
€27 per car / per day / advance reservation recommended.
Mosque / cathedral / tower a must visit...lovely city to walk around. Especially the roman bridge and tower.
Lunch patio food excellent / dinner over priced
Roman ruins underneath hotel - they do a tour at 3.30pm every day.
The hotel is an oasis of quiet and clam
Car park around the corner €15
Covered garages €15 Calle Sevilla 5
We parked our car near the train station (lots of free parking here) and got taxi to hotel - was very stress free to do it this way and taxi each way cost of parking
Streets old city are narrow, ensure car covered by insurance
We rented smaller car because Seville and Cordoba have narrow streets
bottles ice water at reception
It's a 10 minute walk to Mesquita / Roman Bridge
You get complimentary chocolate cake and water in your room
Roman baths (hot, cold, tepid - last pool is long and you can swim a bit in it) perfect for relaxation. Go in robes no changing area.
Cordoba really lovely city - well worth the visit
Don't leave anything behind (true of all hotels)
They do upgrade in this hotel
Room with courtyard nice (and probably very quiet as opposed to our room facing onto a narrow street with lots of school kids)
Restricted area - access only garages and hotels
Make reservation for roman baths in hotel - limited 8 people
Breakfast €18 per person. Lovely cafes near by for breakfast
Ask for a quiet room, no smoking
Many people found the hotel hard to find, you see people frustrated / lost in cars looking for hotel
This area famous for it's ox tail
Wifi fab. As much water as you want provided
We had dry weather in November, but you can be unlucky and get rain...it was 30 degrees 2 weeks earlier

Mosque - 1 Hour visit enough. Buy tickets on site on day of visit (€10) and go up the tower for great views (€2) Closes 30 minutes in morning for mass (9.30-10)

Our Experience - Staff Amazing
Filippe came running out to take our bags on arrival.
Bags taken to room as we checked in.
Receptionist brought us to the room
Room excellent - bathroom excellent. Light in toilet great for not waking up your partner at night. Shower excellent.
We ran out of a few things in the room - said it as we went out that evening - fully replenished when we got back. Use roman baths twice - really lovely relaxing experience.
Love the courtyard - wish we had been here earlier to use the outdoor pool...only closed it 1st November. If we had a quiet room it would have made the stay amazing.
Overall loved Cordoba - loved this hotel - loved the location - would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone
Lovely new manager from Madrid - was very nice when we checked out. Information provided by hotel before our arrival excellent. Overall staff fantastic - very well trained but exceptionally nice.

Room Tip: Not facing onto road - if you have to leave window open you will be woken early
