Lovely and interesting historical site. However various aspects of the organisation are ridiculous. You can get audio guides - some may have sufficient battery - mine ran out in the first 20 minutes. Even if the audio guides stay the course you will find no numbers linking the audio guide to sites of interest in the Mezquita- you will have to guess where you are and it is not easy! This is a large place to find your way around. Visitors are issued with a paper map with the numbers printed on that but the positions on the map do not correspond exactly with the positions inside. How difficult would it be really to put 25 discreet numbered markers around this monument?
If you want to go up the tower you’ll have to check the times. When it says it is open until 1330 this does not mean that you can go in until 1330, it means you have to leave by then which means you have to go in by 1300. I think this may make logical sense to the Spanish visitors but it is confusing for others.

This amazing monument was built, modified and re-constructed in over 1000 years. It is really amazing and it’s a must see in Andaluzia. There is a lot of history inside... Don’t miss it!

Have been here three times and it is just as stunning each time. Cordoba is a very pretty city but over run with tourists and shops selling silver jewelry. This is a culture visit well worth a day trip. Go early before the bus loads pack it. Also is free between 8:30 and 9:30.

It's difficult to dislike the Mezquita. You can get into the gardens of the complex for free at any time during opening hours but to enter the internal spaces you'll require a ticket. (However if you go early in the morning, between 8-9am, entrance is free, but you have to be out by 9am. Those hours might change during summer.) Inside it's like a historic liquorice all-sort, wonderful zebra-painted arches create a 3D effect, one lined up after the other for the entire space. When the organist plays a tune it fills the mosque with an eerie atmosphere. Starting as a Mosque of the vast Umayyad Caliphate, it was converted to a Christian cathedral when captured by Ferdinand III of Castille, but now it is a secular building purely for historical/museum purposes.
