Jauting along Alaunstrasse and being quite hungry, I entered this burger place purely based on the name and imagery. Their burger menu is very inventive, but also very expensive - "special" burgers are around 11 euros and fries are close to 3 euros on top of that.

The wilder specimens are a kangaroo and an ostrich burger, but I went for the chicken chilli burger, which was a huge pile of mildly warm "crunchy" chicken (it was not crunchy) with giant nacho chips and some chilli con carne. It sound delicious, but was just really average, as it could have tasted a lot fresher.

So I don't know - if you don't mind the price and the possibility of getting something hugely mediocre, go for it.

I've read a lot of positive reviews so I was looking forward to having a burger at Devil's Kitchen. However, it was a completely dissapointing experience. Let me start off with some positive aspects: the interior looks fun and there are some cool posters on the wall (Queens of the stone age, hell yeah!). Off to a good start. The waiter was friendly, nice. Couldn't wait to sink my teeth in the burger. The one I ordered was nearly 11 euro's, but hey, if the burger is awesome I will gladly pay it. Now this is where the ugly part sets in: the burger was utterly dry. Overcooked to the point where it was dryer than a piece of plain toast. Speaking of such, the bun was also dry. I quickly applied sauce, but that couldn't save this shipwreck of a burger that was only slowly sinking to my stomach. The texture was awful and the taste was bland. Also, the ingredients used remind me of the cheapest supermarket bought products (why does every burger contain the same veggies, consisting of what looks like a mixed salad bag containing lettuce and carrot?). At this point I wish I would have nicer things to say, but unfortunately it gets even worse. Upon the waiter's question if everything was satisfactory, I could only response in all honesty that it was not. I told him why. He looked at me as if I was insane, repeating the question 'what do you mean with the burger being dry? This is how burgers are made!' up to 3 times, each time getting a little more annoyed by my feedback. He also stated that the buns couldn't be dry since they are fresh from a bakery (which I highly doubt at this point, but I'll have to take his word for it). Even so, the buns were in fact dry, so either he didn't store the buns properly or he bought the not so fresh buns and soul switch bakeries. Clearly this guy wasn't getting it so I'll agree to disagree, paid the check and left. One more piece of advice: don't roll your eyes when mumbling an half assed apology, it only adds fuel to my fire. I have had many burgers around the 7-15 euro price range and they were all delicious, moist and bursting with flavor (without having to add lots of sauce). This burger made me go straight to the toilet (which I have to admit, was proper and clean), I only have this physical response to the food served in the well known big burger chains. Devil's Kitchen is, in my honest opinion, way overpriced. Wouldn't recommend eating there. I wish I could agree with the positive reviews posted here :-(

We visited Devils mainly because of solid variety of meals (my friends are veggies), plus reasonable prices. I had classic burger and was really surprised with the quality and taste of the meat because is was really cheap. Friends said, that their vege meals were also awesome. They offer just one type of "pils" beer - Becks for around 3€. In addition, waiter was cool & fluent in english. Restaurant accepts German credit cards, international VISA/MC are not accepted.
