We visited as we wanted to see where Napoleon sat,ate and drank the local beer. We were not disappointed as he has his own corner. The cuisine is 'gutbuergerlich' like seasonal Matjes Herring (yummy) and Suelze mit Bratkartoffeln. Beer and wine good quality, attentative staff and shady outside area which was great in this heat.

Likes: Crispy crackling on the pork knuckle with moist and tender meat inside. Dislike: Waiters who are too busy to be attentive.

We came here early on a Saturay evening during our day off on a business trip to have some real German food. Our expectations were met. The portions were generous and the food well prepared, and the service reasonably efficient. Despite the time, the crowd inside was boisterous and with the decor added to the experience.

It may be the nicest brewery offering food in Düsseldorf, especially for the interior, history and atmosphere. In particular, the inside seating is remarkable and many tourist and business people go there. However, recently, I fear that the quality of the food has gone down. The food comes very quickly and it sometimes tastes just pre-made and reheated. It is still decent food, but a bit too pricey for the quality. In addition, recently, it seems that the restaurant is more geared for tourists than locals.

Very reliable German restaurant with inside and outside dining. Napoleon thought so too! Great people watching because not far from the Rhine River and Beer Streets. Waiter will box up left overs.
