We stayed here as a family with two small children (3 and 6) from Thursday to Sunday. It was a most pleasant experience. The young hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the place is very very clean and tidy.
Although the the hostel is situated in a lively neighborhood (which I reckon is an advantage to the youthful crowd it attracts) we slept fairly well. Probably thanks to the excellent mattresses. It is a bit of a pity that there are no decent curtains to block the morning light out though. I think this is only a problem in summer, and then again, thanks to the early start you can make the most of your time in the beautiful city of Cologne. It would be silly to sleep your day away, wouldn't it?
If you got out of bed a bit grumpy, the splendid breakfast will put a smile on your face. It's a treat.
One last piece of advice: bring your own pillow. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something spectacularly wrong with Hostel Köln's :-)More
