Family owned and managed for four generations, hotel Kluth offers 15 rooms and radiates an outdated fifties atmosphere. The building dates from 1798, yet the hotel clearly is rebuild shortly after WW2. It is a basic establishment. Staffs are friendly.

The hotel is located in Duisdorf at an pedestrian street filled with uninspiring shops. Bonn centre is at 5kms. You find Duisdorf railway station at walking distance.

Our single room had the size of a monastery cell. Jammed into 9 square meters: chair & tiny desk, wardrobe, suitcase rack, washbasin, TV high up the wall, shower cubicle in the corner and a reasonable single bed. No separate bathroom, toilet is outside the room. Walls are thin. All was clean.

Windows can be opened. As a result you enjoy, besides fresh air, distance traffic noise. The hourly sound of the church tower bell leaves the impression of a countryside village.

Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet & daily papers and a free hotel parking near the property. The hotel owner is serving an OK German breakfast.

The atmosphere in the hotel is not inspiring. At €47 for a claustrophobic room plus breakfast, hotel Kluth is overpriced for what it offers.

The hotel is clean and the proprietress is friendly and helpful. The rooms are not large, but neat as a pin. I particularly enjoyed the perfectly clean sheets and pillowcases, and the warm featherbeds. Hotel Kluth was a great place to fight 9 hours of jet lag, in the wrong (west-to-east) direction. The location is wonderful, with the pleasant feel of a small town and plenty of useful and interesting shops along the street, including restaurants and grocery stores. Buses to Bonn run every 10 min or so one block away; or if you have a little time in the morning you can strike out on foot- and bike-paths across the lovely fields of wheat. Breakfast is plentiful and the proprietress is friendly and most helpful.

I stayed in 2 different rooms, on the 1st and 2nd (American 2nd and 3rd) floors. The first was sunny with a large window overlooking the main intersection along the main pedestrian zone of Duisdorf. It was cheerful but could get noisy. The second faced the back, with a smaller window facing the back. Street noise was nonexistent but the light was not as pleasant.

Sound proofing is not great: perhaps Germans tend to use louder voices more often. I could often hear my neighbors even late at night. Interior spaces are dark. The parking sounds a bit remote: I used buses. I am not sure how easy it would have been to communicate with the proprietress in English: I used German. No lift, of course.

I found this a very friendly and undemanding hotel.
