A pleasant little museum showing local china, furniture and glass.
It has an excellent collection of old Delft tiles.

This museum is absolutely worth it! It is very close to the Markt and Rathaus, and it is one of the most beautiful houses we have visited. One thing we loved was that every room had detailed explanations in English and other languages about the specifics of the room. There is a nice courtyard where you can sit and have a cup of coffee surrounded by beauty. We enjoyed the Couven Museum very much, and will visit it again when we return to Aachen. It is that good.

This nice museum close to the City Hall and Market Square is well worthwhile a visit while in town. The overall evaluation of Very Good is a bit high. Good would better reflect the situation. Exhibits mainly cover the 18th and 19th century and many of them are from the Couven family. In total there are three floors to be visited. My favorites are the 'tile room' in the basement and the "Pharmacy". (see pictures).

Things I learned during my visit: People were very interested in Asian cultures during that time, they had strange decorative objects, and by that time coffee, tee and chocolate had spread to the middle-class and even began spreading to the peasant class.

There is a student discount: They can get in for 3 Euros.

I wasn't expecting it to be so nice! Full of antiques and really gives you an idea how the upper middle class lived in the 1800s. The actual history of the building in addition to the families is also told. Worth the €5!
