Description: Thomas Martin and his team will continue to interpret original French haute cuisine in their own inimitable way. The menu will be based on superior, regionally sourced products, prepared with precision and contemporary techniques. The main product is the star, with appetising sauces to accompany it. The result is a dish bursting with taste.

The restaurant is traditionally furnished in an elegant high ceilinged room. The food and service was faultless. Breakfast was a traditional huge German buffet selection plus a la carte

This utterly sophisticated and elegant two michelin starred restaurant is located within Jacobs Hotel overlooking the river Elbe. It has recently been refurbished and looks stunning. Mr Martin’s cuisine is classic french without the fuss focusing rather on the quality and seasonality of its ingredients. We enjoyed the fabulous duck menue for two very much. We can highly recommend this restaurant to the discerning gourmet, for a relaxed weekend lunch or a special occasion. Bravo!

Old europe.. unmissable.

Reassuringly expensive and gloriously old fashioned. Great wine menu, fantastic duck and tartare... desserts cart is fun. Lovely.

quite disappointing, we expected michelin star cuisine and found a place where my grandma would have enjoyed a piece of cake. very conservative, high prices, no surprises. the view was fantastic, but how would you interpret the amuse gueule consisting of potato chips, caviar, creme cheese and radish? this did not make any sense, combining the individual components was horrible, and sorry- here i am conservative now- potato chips have nothing to do with gourmet cuisine!

I was really first impress by the deco at the same time posh and pure as nordic countries like. Our table was with an amazing view on Elb river with sailing boats and merchant ships however I was really concentrate of the flavor of each dishes.

All is about quality products more than technics like molecular food, even with tradition and modernity as you expect from a great chef. Thomas Martin say that what is important id what you see is what you get and you ned to feel the taste of each ingredient and it is really what itis, a top french gastronomic experience in a modern nordic style and it was a memorable lunch.

My 5 course lunch began with nice appetizer including topnotch homede chips, gesini with salt, fresh cream with citrus and white radish and salmon caviar. Fresh and light.

The sommelier choose for us a wonderful subtil mineral german Riesling wine from old barrels that you can find only at Jacob. It was really appropriate for all dishes we had.

The first dish was really local feeling : salmon trout with ginger, apple, perennial celery, dill and radish. It was delicate and fresh with the spirit of local cooking in a french gastronomic manner.

The second one was more surprising: famous french onion soup revisited and it was a really top in comparison of some onio soup that some french stared chef had put in their menu.

The third one was Grilled Makerel with tomate jam, couscous, greek yogurt very nice in presentation but less tasty than expected in the combination of ingredients and with a lack of crispy even if it was a stared chef dish.

The fourth one was the fried saddle of venison in spice coat with mushroom, cherries, kohlrabi, pomme dauphine. It was a jewel that say to me that Thomas Martin is at the level of french 3 stars in Michelin and an iconic chef in Germany.

For the dessert, Strawberry ,baiser champagne the sommelier did again a great choice, a german sweet wine but far more subtile than a muscat not far away of iconic Château D' Yquem. This amazing flavors of this german wine is due that the grape harvest is dome very late. Unfortunatly this must to drink for wine lovers is exclusive to Jacob restaurant.

It was a great foodie momment and an experience to have in Hamburg even if you need to make a booking far in advance as locals are very found of this restaurant.
