I stayed in a single room on the 3rd floor. It was decent sized and clean.
My reading lamp was burned out, but was replaced before I left.
Its close to Berlin without all the hustle and bustle.
The breakfast was plentiful, tasty and varied. I never got bored with it. But it IS a European breakfast....if you're expecting bacon and eggs.....guess again.
My flight was delayed and I got to the hotel at 7:30 pm...good thing I did because reception closes at 8pm!! The entire hotel closes at 8pm. Even the elevators.
Good thing I am in good shape.
The hotel is in a neighborhood and is not near a lot of resturants. So dining options are limited unless you can walk. Bars are nearby.....but again ...plan on walking.
The commuter train for Berlin is within sight ....but again....you're going to walk for 5 -7minutes to get there. A pain in the rain.
Babelsberg is a quaint town on the outskirts of Potsdam and Berlin, it drips with Cold War history and is worth renting a bicycle at the train station and giving it a good tour near the lake and park (filled with castles).
I don't speak German, but that wasn't a problem in the hotel. It did make a difference at the local resturant. The hotel does have a bar/resturant, but I didn't try it.
The hotel got me a taxi to Tegel that was lest than 40Euro.
WARNING this hotel is for independent travellers (like me) . OR if you have an event in Potsdam or Babelsberg. or don't mind commuting to Berlin HBF. It's a nice place to stay that will save you some Euro.
