Ackselhaus is a two minute walk from the tram stop and you're in Alexanderplatz within 10 minutes thanks to the regular service provided by the excellent trams. And the rest of Berlin is easily available from Alexanderplatz.

i can't comment on the quality of the food as we weren't up early enough to sample breakfast as it stops serving at 11am. We're lazy when on holiday.

We were given an apartment which whilst being acceptable, and had some interesting art, needs some TLC and tarting up as parts are looking tatty; especially the very dated bathroom with decor that is old, floor tiles missing and taps that wobble in their socket when being used. There are also signs of general grubbiness due to the age of the shower - it's not dirty, but needs renewing.

The reception staff are friendly and very helpful and special thanks goes out to Michelle who helped us with advice and guidance. The hotel staff were also very helpful before our arrival in providing clear instructions of how to get to it from the airport; always useful when arriving or the first time in a strange city.

The hotel is a quirky place and is spread out across a couple of different buildings which adds to its charm and is in a very pleasant neighbourhood; be sure to check out the excellent "Russian/Ukrainian/Israelii/Eastern European" restaurant "Pasternak" just around the corner and the "Gagarin" cafe next door; authentic sixties decor and great coffee. Alas the coffee in our room in Ackselhaus wasn't particularly good.

The hotel isn't particularly cheap for what we got and we would have preferred one of their themed rooms, but all in all a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Book one of the themed rooms for more character - and presumably higher prices.

This is really a beautyful place. We got a very nice appartment which was decorated like a piece of art. Very impressing and creative bathroom. Here you could get inspiration for quite a few improvements at home. The service was very friendly, and the breakfast could not have been better.

Small hotel with individual interesting rooms. Well located approx 10 min walk to Alexanderplatz & station ,with abundant restaurants all within walking distance. Hotel reception extremely helpful with our dilemma of getting home an impromptu gift of a large picture - DHL arranged on our behalf and delivery safely arrived a few days later. Thank you so much Ackselhaus! Having only one night in Berlin we made use of the city bus tour to orientate, this was well worth doing.
Will definitely return on our next visit.

This is a really nice, small hotel, in a pleasant part of Berlin--convenient to the U-bahn, restaurants, and more. It's an easy walk to major sights, like the Brandenburg Gate, and if you need something, the staff is friendly, and most helpful.

Everything was so good that no one thing stands out. It is more of an experience that quietly grows on you to be gently savoured until the point when you checkout and realise that you don't want to leave and you actually have never been to a hotel similar to it before.
Lots of hotels claim to be 'boutique' but this one really is. Us and our friends stayed in Rom and Kairo and style and the quality and the attention to detail and the uniqueness... I could go on. Our kids stayed in the Blue Haus in a super modern suite, and they especially liked having to walk on the stepping stones over the Japanese style pond.

The staff were lovely and so helpful, especially Michelle on reception.
We totally lucked out with the area as well. Just around the corner is a selection of independent restaurants, cafes and bars to make any town proud. We tried six of them in total and I can say they were all excellent: really individual, great decor, and above and beyond food.
It is about 15 mins walk to Alexanderplatz which we considered well worth it in order to be staying in such a special little part of Berlin. If I wanted to get away from it all for a few days - just to a great hotel surrounded by fab restaurants, I could easily occupy myself here for a few days and more.
