The apartment was very well equipped. Plenty of space.
Situated near plenty of restaurants and bars. Public transport close by and easy to get into the centre of Berlin.
Only downside is the climb up to the fourth floor, there is no lift. If this is not an issue to you then I would recommend this apartment.
Three of us stayed in Lena's flat for a week in July. Lena sent excellent directions for getting to the flat from the airport which was much appreciated. The flat was spotless, with well-equipped kitchen (including tea, coffee, etc), washing machine, comfy king size bed and a tiny balcony with great views up and down the street. Prenzlauerberg is a lovely neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and cafes (including vegan) to choose from, interesting shops and close to tram, bus and U Bahn (We were very impressed by Berlin public transport). Recommend visiting the local museum in the old brewery and the Mauerpark flea market.
The owner, Lena, made the booking transactions quite straightforward and provided clear instructions prior to the stay for all methods of transport to travel to the apartment. Flying into Schoenefeld airport, we opted to use the train and underground using the instructions supplied Lena. You can buy a day travel pass at the station which covers tram, bus, underground and train and was just over 7 Euros each. We bought a 7 day pass the following day (approx 37 Euros each) and made extensive use of it including using it for the journey back. The transport system is fantastic.
To be fair we did get a little lost when disembarked at the underground station. It is around a 2-5 minutes walk (depending on your pace) once we'd found our bearings. Be warned however, that the apartment is on the 4th floor and there is no lift so be mindful when packing!
First impressions of the apartment is light, airy and spacious. The decor is very modern yet comfortable. There are 4 rooms (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge) with a generous hallway connecting them. There are plenty hangers, wardrobe space and drawers. Everything we needed was there to hand and there were even coffee, tea and a few other culinary bits and pieces like oil and spices for you to use.
As you can see from the photos, all the rooms have wooden polished floorboards. In addition to the travel instructions provided by Lena, she also provides a few other little tips and requests, one being to ensure the floorboards don't get damaged and to minimise disturbing the residents living below with clomping noises, that you observe the polite request to take off your shoes before entering. So, if like me, you don't like walking in you bare feet, remember to pack a pair of slippers.
We had taken some DVDs with us just in case the weather turned unfavorable or we wanted a chilled evening and to rest our feet after a day sightseeing. Unfortunately we discovered the cable was missing from the player but after contacting Lena, she swiftly rectified the problem and popped round with one. :)
The apartment is on a vibrant bustling street so be aware that it can get noisy in the evenings from all the restaurants and coffee shops but on the flip side, you have a host of restaurants to choose from on your doorstep. There is also a fire stations further down the road and the vehicle sirens do go off quite often. The surrounding vicinity is also a thriving mix of shops, restaurants and coffee shops so you are spoilt for choice.
Lena throughout our stay quickly responded to any query we had and her command of English is excellent, which made for an easy, pleasant stay.
We loved our month long stay in this apartment. It was bright clean and warm with plenty of space and storage. Lena was very helpful and informative, and made the arrival and booking process very easy.
The apartment is in a delightful part of Berlin with lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants but within easy access to all the main tourist sights.
Will definitely be back!
Everything is exactly as advertised. The apartment is spacious, well equipped and clean. 4th floor walk up on a beautiful street cluttered with excellent restaurants and coffee houses. Very quiet though. It is a block from Mauer Park, a beer garden, and two blocks to the subway. Lena, our host, got us whatever we needed and coordinated with me prior to the trip. 15 minutes to Alexander Platz, 25 to Potsdamer plats, and 35 minutes to the Zoo. I can't imagine anything that would have made this place better than it was. Just Awesome!!!
