The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Berlin, close to almost any attraction a visitor might like to see. A 15-minute walk in one direction along the Unter den Linden (or 5 minutes by U-Bahn) is the Reichstag. An equal distance in the other direction (on the same U-Bahn line) is Museum Island. Ten minutes south along Friedreichstrasse to Checkpoint Charlie, and ten minutes north to the great shows of the Friedreichstadt-Palast Berlin.
The room is fresh and new, product of a recent renovation. Ours overlooked Unter den Linden from the 6th floor. Comfortable bedding, replaced daily. Spacious shower, with fresh, plush towels daily. Two plush robes. Lots of storage. Comfortable reading chair plus another desk chair with writing materials. Espresso and tea in the room, though we did have a bit of trouble convincing staff to replenish the coffee capsules.
The room was located at the end of two long hallways. We were not warned that the first hallway was under renovation, and that we’d be walking atop plastic sheets protecting that hallway’s newly installed carpeting as workers brought in new flooring. The walk past construction was a minor inconvenience. It was surprising to us, however, that a hotel of this price would not inform us in advance and offer the option of moving to a different location.

Our four days in Berlin were pleasantly warm, around 25 celsius, dropping to around 20 at night. The temperature in the room was around 23 at bedtime, a bit two warm for our taste, given the very warm bedding designed more for winter. Attempts to regulate the controls within the room proved fruitless, which we reported early in our stay. The hotel management said they’d dispatch a technician, but in the two additional days we were in residence, we heard nothing further, and the temperature in the room did not change. While the cool breeze from Unter den Linden was quite alright with the windows open, the noise from the street was very loud, so for sleeping, this was not really an option. While we might be understanding of a technical problem with the cooling system in a renovated hotel, we were surprised at the failure of hotel management to respond to our concerns with any communication. At this price, unacceptable.
This hotel might in the near future be a good value, as renovations are completed, and as staffing and practices return to normal with the waning pandemic. As of now, however, there are other choices in the area that might prove more interesting at this price.More
