I have stayed at this hotel many times and it’s always a classic. The setting for the “Borne Supremacy” movie, it was once a luxury property for the Stasi before reunification, but it’s history goes back further. With its dramatic and iconic central staircase in the lobby to well appointed rooms with the friendliest of staff, the Westin Grand Berlin is a gathering place for visitors and locals alike! Centrally located on famous shopping streets and close to the Brandenburg Gate, you can’t miss!

We booked this hotel as second choice but we weren’t disappointed. Only stayed 2 nights but the hotel is beautiful, elegant and very welcoming. It is in a very good location for touring the city. Within walking distance to the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag and a lot of other locations. We didn’t really find anywhere nice to eat so no recommendations. The hotel is expensive but the restaurant looks nice . All the staff are very friendly and would definitely stay there again.

The Westin Grand is certainly in the "Grand Hotel" tradition as far as the building goes. Though renovated to current standards, it still has a flavor of what the GDR once considered top luxury, including the famous grand staircase.

The Westin's location at the corner of Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse is hard to beat - literally within easy walking distance of all the major attractions, and in the heart of shopping and dining. Public transport is also right there.

We had nice rooms facing Unter den Linden, with beautiful views of the TV tower and the cathedral. Extremely quiet despite the traffic, and with excellent beds. Bit of a walk through the building's cavernous corridors though. Amenities are what you'd expect at this level, as was the breakfast which offered a wide variety of high-quality food as well as attentive waiters.

What's missing, though, is the service that sets real 5-star places apart: We stayed at the Westin to celebrate a 50th birthday of a Platinum Preferred Starwood member, and the hotel was aware of that. And while we received the "standard" Platinum upgrade to a Junior Suite, there was not a word else. No sweets, no card, no note - nothing.
A lack of personal touch, and especially for loyal guests, that would not happen e.g. at a Waldorf.

Nonetheless - if what you're looking for is a very comfortable hotel right in the middle of Berlin, I'd highly recommend the Westin.

Dear Germany Traveler, It was a pleasure to have you here with us as our guests and to read your kind comment. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and the time spent here. All the more we regret the carelessness in regards to your anniversary as we certain take care of such special occasions. I deeply regret this, and we have evaluated this issue to be more careful with such important things.
Please give us occasion and stay with us again - at the latest on the next birthday. The Westin Grand Berli-Team, Andrea W.
