We visited Berlin at the beginning of December for our annual 'Christmas Market' trips with friends. Sabine greeted us with wine and stollen which was most welcome after our journey. The rooms were spotless and added touches like Christmas candles, small biscuits and fruit made the stay special. Sabine is an excellent host and very helpful. The Middendrin is close to the Ka De We and transport links to other parts of Berlin are excellent although we chose to walk through the beautiful Tiergarten which took approximately 45 minutes from the Brandenburg Gate. A wonderful time was had by all, made all the more enjoyable thanks to Sabine.

Room Tip: The Modern Room has a balcony.

The first thing you notice when you step into Mittendrin is the wonderful smell- an "expensive" aroma of a good perfume... Your mood is immediately set & your expectations are fully met by the "La Belle Époque" feel of the Mittendrin. It's really a beautifully decorated flat on the 3rd floor of an apartment building in the center of Berlin, right off the main street, Berliners call KuDaMe... Sabine is a wonderful & gracious host... Very warm & special person. Her breakfasts are sumptuous - cold cuts, lox, wonderful croissants, home made jams, eggs, yogurt, fresh juice, cake, coffee... Everything is beautifully presented, clean & there is a feeling of tastefully decorated home. Mittendrin is very special, truly a boutique B&B...

Room Tip: The 2 adjoining rooms are perfect for a family with a kid or even a couple with lots of luggage, can...

When we gave the address to taxi driver from the Berlin train station his immediate response was, "I didn't know there was a hotel there!" In fact it is not anything resembling a hotel by US standards, but that is the point...it is a bit like being invited into the eclectic living space of a fun-loving friend. Sabine, a former (?) actress with a warm (and pretty) smile and gregarious personality went out of her way to make you feel welcome to her adopted city. Her touches (and pride of ownership) were all over the place, including the great breakfasts. She was also meticulous about pointing out any flaws in the furnishings and linens...it was reassuring to know that she cares and it would be highly unlikely to have any nasty surprises that can accompany stays in off-beat hotels. If I recall correctly, she has just four rooms each with a creative theme. We stayed in the "Romantic" room which was festooned with quirky touches that told you that she thought hard about making it all come together. The place was nice and quiet too...the only complaint (and it is not a big one) is that the private bathrooms were separate from the room meaning you had to put your robe on to go do your stuff. Another thing to remember here is that she only takes cash, not a problem because there is a bank in the building next door. It was our first time in Berlin and it was fun to be around someone who likes to tout the ins and outs of her city. She is also very welcoming to the full spectrum of people...straight and gay couples, families, etc. We would definitely go again both for pleasue and for business.

Our four night stay at Mittendrin was wonderful - a fantasic room in an amazing apartment.
What made it so special was the beautiful Sabine who welcomed us like old friends!
We fell in love with Berlin and Mittendrin and hope to be back soon.

My husband and I stayed at Mittendrin for 2 nights in July 2011 during our 1 month European holiday from Australia. We fell in love with Sabine who is a fun and warm host. Sabine puts on THE BEST breakfast and is interested to hear about your day and provides help with what to see, getting around ect. Central location, close to shopping Ka De Wee and transport. Big spacious room and bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. Would recommend and definitely return here.
