We were in Oberammergau for the Koning International cross country ski race. The sleepy little village of Oberammergau is overrun by international cross country skiers for a weekend in Feb and we are all hungry and love our sweets after training or racing. My team and I came a few days early to check out the course and get some light training in but the snow was so wet that it was hard going and after a few hours in the cold we needed a hot drink and to refuel. We asked at the Tourist Info ( which is excellent and really friendly and gave great suggestions) and they gave us this recomendation. It was a bit of a walk when you are tired and cold but well worth it. We got there just as they would have been closing but the staff did not mind and welcomed us warmly. They had an amazing array of cakes and pastries on display which were all drool worthy. The staff brought our hot drinks right away as they could see we were cold and even brough extra hot water. They were very good at recomending different cakes and were cheery dispite the fact we were keeping them late. They brought out our cakes and said to let them know if we wanted to change but all were excellent. The filter coffee was strong and smooth the tea was a nice brew and the hot chocolate was not too sweet. The cakes were masterpieces each and all were homemade. The staff did not rush us at all and even talked to us about the place and decoration and the race. I would recomend a stop here for the cakes and conversation and Oberammagau was a friendly town. We really enjoyd the race and will go back next year.
