“Amazing views, compelling history”
Reviewed 15 December 2011

The bus ride up is as beautiful as it is nerve-wracking. The Eagles Nest (Kehlstein haus) is in an amazing location on top of the mountain. Everything is well-organized and easy to figure out. You get your tickets, and once up at the top get your tickets stamped for the time you wish to return. Even little ones in strollers were able to get around the immediate area.

“the third Reich history in one place”
Reviewed 6 November 2011

Visit the ss underground tunnels under the hotel zum turken and the remains of the Berghof just a minutes walk away. The area has many remains of the SS and Hitlers most well known area.

“A Walk through History.”
Reviewed 13 October 2011

The night before we visited our Inn had a book on the history of the building of the road, elevator and the Eagle's Nest building that we read over. You couldn't help but think of the people who worked on this and the history behind it all. Amazing drive up on the bus and once at the top great views. We had fresh snow and bright blue skies to top it off. There were a lot of people at this attraction and the lines for the elevator were very long. You have to have your tickets stamped for a return time when you arrive, but we didn't account for the time just waiting in line for the elevator. Could have spent more time here. You can't go into the building unless you are eating there. Disappointed about that.
We arrived by bus and the signs were not clear where the documentation center was or the bus station to get to the top. They are in opposite directions, so ask if you are confused. You will want to see the documentation center with the underground bunkers too.

“Hitler house and Surroudings in Berchtesgaden”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

This region above the Berchtesgaden city, was the headquarter of Nazi Party in Bavaria. Its includes :
Bergorf , Hitler private residence - nothing to see, it was destroyed after the war, but there is the Hotel Zun Turken - this hotel was "taken"by the nazi party in 1933 and was used by the SS security guard.
Residence of others Nazi leaders, like Goring (demolished) and Bormann (demolished) . In this area we have now the Intercontinental Hotel.
Eagle's Nest ( Kehlsteinhaus) IT IS UNFORGETTABLE.
The Bunkers System.
The Platerhoff. (demolished)
Obersalzber center of documentation.
There is few buildings remaning, but it really worth a visit.

“Great Restaurant Tip”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

Up the mountain from Berchestgaden is a wonderful, quirky restaurant called the Holzkäfer
near the national asthma center. Follow signs to Obersalzburg & Dokumentation & Kehlstein Haus. Very affordable, local Bavarian food with outstanding views of the mountains (weather dependent) with outdoor seating. Inside are local antiques. Very friendly staff with English menu available.
