“Unreasonable charges”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2012

Stayed one night while intown on business. First meeting not until late in the day so slept in to over come jet lag. Went to the restaurant at 10:30 for breakfast. Hostess seated Ys and never said a word that they were closing. Got a piece of bread and cheese and my wife had some fruit and cheese. We were then informed that they were closed and the food from the buffet was removed. When I checked out a little later, I was informed that the charge for breakfast was 25 euros each. I argued thar 25 euros for a piece of bread and cheese was ridiculous and that the charge should be reduced. The front desk staff refused to do so and refused to call the manager, saying that he was too busy to deal with such a trivial item. I am a SPG Gold member and I try to stay at Starwood hotels whenever I can, but this event left me with a bad feeling about the hotel chain. I do know that I would not stay at this particular hotel again.
Overall, the hotel is just average. A typical business hotel. Location is not all that convienient. Rooms are clean, beds not very comfortable, hard as a rock actually, and no clock. Also, why the charge for WiFi?
Most of the staff was helpful, but the desk clerk out to find another line of work.

Dear “CraigIVes“,

Thank you for your feedback on TripadVisor.

We are very sorry to read that we could not meet your expectations during your stay.

As you can imagine the experiences which you have made with our Front Desk were not up to our standard. As you know TripAdvisor is an anonymous portal.

Therefore I would be very glad if you could contact me directly via email (selim.mokni@lemeridien.com) as it is the only opportunity to get more details of your stay.

Dear “CraigIVes”, we would be pleased if you would give us a second chance to prove that we can do much better.

Best regards,

Selim Mokni

The Le Meridien Hotel in Stuttgart is located in the north of Stuttgart - the Schlossgarten is right across the street, great to go running there. Staff is friendly and the hotel is usually quite booked as it's full of consultants most of the time. The rooms are spacious and nice, the bathrooms are great. The rooms facing the street are a little loud, but the ones to the back are just fine. Breakfast is really good, a wide variety of food to chose from and attentive waiters. Company rates there are okay, but the normal rates are somewhat steep.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights.
This was my first visit to Stuttgart and I selected this hotel based on previous reviews and due to a good experience I had in another Meridien Hotel. I wanted a hotel that was centrally located and within walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and most importantly the Christmas Markets.
The staff throughout the hotel from the reception to the bar were helpful, courteous and friendly. The check in was hassle free. The rooms were not ready but they stored our suitcases which allowed us to head off and explore the city for the day. It was raining heavily so they provided us with a large umbrella for the day.
The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean.

There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but you could avail of free takeaway tea and coffee from the restaurant.

We didn’t have breakfast included in our room rate so instead we went to one of the many bakeries and cafes in the streets along the main shopping street. This was within easy walking distance. There is a main road outside the hotel. To cross the road you take the stairs outside the hotel door and then use the foot bridge to cross the road into the park. You then walk through the park to the main street. It is about a five minute walk.

The hotel bar while a tad on the small side considering the size of the hotel is very pleasant and relaxing. It has an excellent cocktail menu and all the cocktails are expertly made. The staff in the bar were fantastic. Really friendly and fast. There was one girl in particular who mixed amazing cocktails and at the speed of light.
We also ate in the bar one night. The Portions were a good size and the food was excellent especially the burger.
The hotel pool was a good size and free to use to guests of the hotel. One thing to note is you need to wear a gown and slippers down to the spa. These are provided in your room.

When I return to Stuttgart I would try and stay at this hotel again.

Stayed for 2 nights in an executive room. The hotel had everything I could wish for. Good location, spacious rooms, wonderful breakfast (in a beautifully designed restaurant), good gym, beautiful SPA, wifi (not free..), and last but not the least - the service is absolutely fantastic. I travel 11 months a year, staying in many hotels. The service in Le Meridien Stuttgart exceeded all my possible expectations. Do come there, you won't regret. It ain't cheap but totally worth it.

Recently spent three nights at this hotel. It's a somewhat reluctant participant in the SPG program so as a plat was given an executive room (despite availability of junior suites), which is basically a standard room on a higher floor. One positive of these rooms is you can get a nice view across the park to the city without much traffic noise.

The standard rooms themselves are very nice. A good size, well furnished and in good condition. Housekeeping also does a very good job. I was pleasantly surprised that the rooms had a modern contemporary feel especially compared to the older style lobby. The TV also has a good selection of english language selections.

A handful of resilient protestors remain in the park - but are no risk or threat. Think more along the lines of ageing environmentalists as opposed to anarchists. Also note that if coming from the train station via the park - technically you have to climb quite a few stairs - so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage. Alternatively you can (no doubt illegally) dart across the road and skip the overpass.

All the staff at the hotel were also very helpful and friendly.
