The hotel is really nice and is set over a bar. The room was very clean and comfortable.

We ate in the bar restaurant for the night we stayed and food was nice and it was very good value for money. The bar wasn't really noisy at night even with the windows open.

The only thing we didn't like was it was too far out of town. It's was about a twenty minute walk although there is a tram that runs in front of the hotel if you can take the time to get the grips with them.

We didn't have breakfast as we had an early flight. This hotel is good value for money and I would reccomend it if you don't want to be on top of town. Having said that I personally didn't like Freiburg as it was too busy.

Room tip: Ask for a second floor room so you are not over the bar

First of all, we had a hard time to find the place with our GPS. We finally made it with our written notes. Personnel was very friendly and helpful, they spoke English to help us with information. We loved the style of the hotel. No elevators, but we were on the second floor, not a big problem. The room was nice and comfortable. I noticed that there was no air conditioning, so it is probably very hot in the summer time. It is probably noisy too in the summer time with the nice big Beer Garden, but we were lucky, going in September and the weather being a bit cool, there was no one in the garden. The dining room for the breakfast is just so nice and in style with the hotel. They lit a candle on each table, which makes your breakfast so romantic! The Old Town is a good walk away from the hotel and not easy to find, but we made it and had supper there. When you leave town, it is very easy to find your way out.

Freiburg is a nice city for a stopover. Plenty of shops, restaurant and hiking trails to be enjoyed for a day (or 2). Schuetzen is a very nice gasthaus on a good location. In summer they have a lovely terrace (biergarten) on which they serve very nice traditional food, and liters of beer. And you need liters of beer for a good night sleep since the beds aren't very comfortable. Also, rooms facing the biergarten can be noisy. But basically those are the only points of criticism. Staff is very polite and helpful. Breakfast if great!

Room tip: Rooms on the second floor are small and very hot in summer. The rooms on the first floor are more spacious.

It is a good gasthaus, with a friendly staff. There is private parking available next to the gasthaus. The rooms are good. The breakfast was very good, with wide selection available.
The accommodation is not so far from the city center, it was approx. 15-20 minutes by walk, or a few stops (5 minutes) by the tram (there are a tram stop close to the gasthaus).
There is a Biergarten at the hostel, which is good especially at warm evenings :)

First the positives: the personnel were friendly and the breakfast was good. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The position is OK for visiting the old town - a 15 minute walk through a few sidestreets and along the side of the river. There is also a tram stop nearby.
We stayed here for two nights in June - the weather was hot, and our room was under the roof with no air conditioning, so we had to have the window open. Problem was, that our room overlooked a busy Biergarten, and so we had to endure the noise. It was not particularly raucous, and there was no music, but we had to listen to loud conversations and clattering plates until almost 1am. Even with the window open the room did not cool down much. Also, there was quite a loud background traffic noise the whole time. In winter, with the windows shut, there would probably be no issue with noise and heat, but on a hot summer day - beware!

Room tip: In summer avoid the side overlooking the beer garden if you do not want noise.
