This was a last minute booking for a break at New Year. We arrived on New Years Eve and pre-booked the dinner in the hotel for that evening. Having travelled 4 hours and the centre of the village was already likely to be booked out, we decided we preferred to celebrate the New Year at the hotel. We were glad we did. The first thing is to complement the staff on their friendly and professional attitude throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Yes the hotel is 2 km outside the centre of Megeve, and Megeve can have bad traffic....but as people have said there is a bus every 30 minutes. 2 km is not so bad either providing the weather is ok.

The rooms are compact but comfortable, and since you only really sleep in it, you don't need more space. The food on the evening of New Year was good standard, and we also ate there one more time., and where quite happy with th quality and speed of service. The staff are well organized also yodel with large family groups.

There are planned walks, and activities most days including a lot for the kids. Sauna and Jacuzzi are small, but we never had a problem to use. Swimming pool is outside and will be good for a early summar break For skiing there is the choice of several cable cars from the centre of Mageve, but we were unlucky because like most of the Alps there was not enough snow.. However we used the cable car and enjoyed some great walks... Megeve is a pleasant village but most of the shopping is 'lux' . For a change of scene Chamonix is 50 minutes drive.

Only downside was the WIFI only seemed to work in the reception area.

Room Tip: Wifi is only in reception

Decent family run hotel , pretty basic , food average , staff helpful , a good 30 minute walk from town is the big draw back , but on the other hand that's why it is reasonably cheap for a skiing holiday, if you want good skiing but with no night life , this would be a good choice .

Perfect for simple summer family fun. Kids club allows the parents precious down time and the heated outdoor pool means even the coolest mountain afternoons are spent splashing around. Extremely safe environment for kids who can run free. Its not luxury but for R&R it's ideal.

Room Tip: View of Mont Blanc and a balcony a bonus!

In notoriously expensive Megeve, it was comforting to find somewhere (not too far out of the main town) that wasn't eyewateringly expensive. It has to be said that we were limited as we booked a few days before our stay and it certainly wouldn't have been our first choice but it was great.

We were pleasantly surprised by the reception/bar area and our room as the images attached don't do it justice. There's a free ski shuttle that runs every hour 9am - 6pm to ferry you from Megeve bus station (this does get booked up v quickly so remember to reserve the night before. The free wifi is useful to check out restaurants in the area but the hotel has an onsite restaurant if you prefer to stay in.

The breakfast and room are basic - only one english channel (BBC World) - but this hotel provides great value for money. Highlight for us was the do it yourelf pancake hot plate (such a novelty). We didn't manage to visit the onsite spa / sauna but wish we had!

The staff are very accomodating and did their best to help with all of our requests. They were happy to book us taxis to town on our behalf and shared their knowledge of the area to recommend restaurants and where to ski to find the best snow.

NB. Taxi's are really expensive so if you intend to go out in the evenings, I would advise to invest in a hotel nearer the centre of Megeve. We paid around 20 euros for a one way trip into town and this really adds up!

Room Tip: We stayed in 306 and had a great view from our balcony

A three is perfect for this place. It's not luxury, not quite comfy but great if you want to stay away from the center of town but within walking distance and you're traveling with a family. At 7am, the kids running down the hallway will wake up anyone, but after one stop at breakfast, you'll realize this place is packed with families of at least four - often with toddlers in tow. The breakfast is slim pickings though, with tiny bread slices, do-it-yourself pancakes and eggs. Then there's the usual cold cuts, yogurt and fruit. There is quite a bit of noise from other rooms as pointed out but things do die down after about 10, 11pm so, you can get some rest before another day on the slopes. If you are going with the family and want to have a safe place for your kids to play away from town, then this is the spot for you.

One important note, which messed us up during booking, is this place does not have any room with two double beds. They only have two single beds, which can be combined to make one bed. So, book accordingly and enjoy Megeve.
