Le Rond Point d'Arbois
Ranked #22 of 38 Hotels in Megeve
Reviewed 25 April 2017 via mobile

To be fair, we paid considerably less for staying at Le Rondpoint than we normally spend on a chalet, so I wasn't expecting it to be top notch. But I was still underwhelmed, particularly with the tired, shabby and very noisy room.
On a positive note, the Chalet Hotel is ideally placed, just a couple of minutes walk to the mediaeval centre of beautiful Megeve. The ski hire shop is just up the road, and there was plentiful hot water. The food was also good, and although it was a set meal, they catered well for people's dietary preferences. Care was taken with the presentation and some meals were very tasty. The other guests provided pleasant company around the large table.

Unfortunately, the room (number 11) on the top floor was very disappointing. Rickety old furniture, curtain hanging off the rail and too small to adequately block out the light, mould over the bathroom ceiling, cracked and stained sink.... and it just didn't feel terribly clean. Room service during the week was minimal. The toilet was in a separate room but was so small your head practically touched the door when using it, and then you had to cross to the bathroom to wash your hands and hope your 'other' wasn't in it. The beds were comfortable however. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night we were woken by shouting and screaming outside between 2-4am and as the windows had no shutters, it made for very poor sleep.
The chalet hosts were variable in their degree of customer service. As there was insufficient snow in Megeve, we were taken to Les Contamines, which was a delightfully sunny small resort. The guys driving the transfers - Patrick, Tom and Dan, were all very friendly, chatty and efficient. But some of the other staff barely engaged with the guests and clearly looked like they wanted to be at home after a long winter season.

Dear Rosalind,
Thank you for your comments about your recent stay with us at the Chalet Hotel Rond Point in Megeve. We take all comments very seriously and always use any feedback to help us to make improvements hopefully to all aspects of our ski holidays in Megeve.
I'm sorry that you found your room disappointing. We are in in the process of renovating the rooms in this chalet, and several have already been completed. We will be doing more of them this summer and we will take your feedback into account when making our maintenance plan. All the rooms at the front of the chalet do have new double glazing that was installed last year and all bar your room still retain shutters as well. The Chalet Rond Point, as you say, is central to Megeve, and, although it is not a party town, it’s location is not as quiet as others but you do have the village on your doorstep. The rooms facing the back are quieter but we do also have other chalets (Les Clochettes and Chalet hotel Sylvana) in quieter locations, although not as central, that you may prefer should you decide to give Megeve another try? We would love to welcome you back next year.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth

We spent a week here in February to allow our grandson to learn to ski. The hostel is by no means a de luxe establishment but the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was VERY good and we all (3 adults and a child) enjoyed our food every evening. The facilities within Megeve were also very good. Definitely a place to recommend in Megeve.

Room Tip: Go for a back facing room

Thanks again to Amey and her staff. Had my recent birthday celebration at the Rond Point having visited 12 months ago. Excellent hearty food in a relaxed and comfortable setting, just the job for a large group. Friendly staff who are always happy to help. I'd say we got goo value for money. Thanks so much.

We spent a night there with three kids.
It's a simple and very tidy hotel.

Staff were very kind from check-in until check-out which was very appreciated. Both are English natives but can also speak French.

The beds are VERY comfortable and the shower is super efficient!!
I slept like a baby :)

Private parking available and hotel located 2' walk from the village... :)

Last but not least, the breakfast was very nice and refilled very regularly.

In a nutshell, if you are looking for an affordable, simple (ie. not luxurious), clean, welcoming, and easy place to stay in Megève, you will be happy there.

Room Tip: Rooms with the mountain view are more quiet than the ones with the view on the village.

Recently stayed here for 3/4 day ski break. It's location is just great only a short walk to the ski hire shop and gondola and pretty town. The meals we had were all excellent. A great breakfast, followed by afternoon tea and then a three course tasty meal in the evening. The transfers to and from the airport were well organised. Amy and her staff were not only helpful and friendly but also took us out for over 2 hours each day to help us find our way around the mountains. Cannot speak highly enough of this chalet/resort.

Room Tip: If you require a quieter room ask for one at the back of the chalet.
