Lyon seems to be the Chicago of France...prosperous..unassuming..and lacking the innate snobbism tourists often encounter in Paris. People are actually friendly here !! The Cours Des Loges, a member of the demanding Relais & Chateaux group housed in a renovated, centuries-old Jesuit college, adds a quiet luxury touch in the cobblestone streets of the old town...and its hustle and bustle. Only 50 rooms..facing on an inner court..large enough for full services including an ever-helpful concierge desk, a gourmet dining room and separate bar & lounge..but small enough for staff to recognize you.And a landscaped rooftop garden. Our lovely room..in deep red..with a high-ceiling and wooden beams... added an artistic touch. A fully modern bathroom. A separate toilet room.No noise !!

Hotel has a great location in the centre of the old town so all the places of interest are within walking distance. Concierge staff very helpful in suggesting where to go and special thanks to Vincent who gave clear instructions on our first day. Building is full of character with rooms surrounding a central courtyard which also houses the restaurant. The inside swimming pool was fine after a day sightseeing and the steam room in the spa was good for easing tired muscles. The room was small but the bed was very comfortable. Interesting arrangement of bathroom and toilet. The room was rather dark but the rooftop garden was a place to relax. Interesting artwork scattered round the hotel.Did not have dinner in the hotel but breakfasts were superb with a very extensive buffet and efficient service. Friendly service from Kate. A good choice of hotel from which to enjoy Lyon.

This is I think one of the best hotels in Lyon, perfectly sited in the lovely old town on the Rue du Boeuf, ideal for restaurants. It is a beautiful and interesting old building with a pretty good but very expensive restaurant (it wasn’t my favourite restaurant by any means). Many of the rooms are on two floors, with the bed in a mezzanine area; this is no good for us as I am a few cm short of 2 metres tall and my wife has mobility issues, but fortunately they have other rooms too, and there are lifts. Very helpful staff.

Everything about our experience in this hotel was excellent. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town area and very close to many restaurants. The building is a beautiful, very old structure that used to be a Jesuit college, so inside it is full of character and charm. We were told that the rooms are all a little bit different. We paid a little more for a superior room and it was fantastic. The bedroom was a good size and the furnishings were very nice. We even had a small koi pond outside out door with a little fountain! Breakfast was also very good, but I will say it was a little expensive. Service everywhere was impeccable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a superior room as the basic rooms may be a little small

We recently stayed at Cour de Loges for a weekend in Lyon. The hotel staff was helpful from the minute we arrived (very early for check in) to the minute we left. We had a junior suite and a superior room. Both rooms were spacious, had great bathrooms and good locations. The Junior Suite was fantastic for three people (2 adults and a child) and had nice windows overlooking the back patio. The Superior room was also adequate for three. There were no outside windows in the superior room (they overlooked the hallway) but it didn't feel overly dark. A nice touch was a small gift left for the kids on the beds the first night.

The location right in the middle of old town can't be beat. We could walk everywhere. It was a bit difficult to get to the hotel as it is on a pedestrian street so we had to walk from where the taxi left us off over cobblestones which wasn't easy with two kids. But oh well, part of the fun.

The small pool and hot tub came in handy since it was over 90 degrees each day. The space was lovely and very clean. The steam room was a nice touch as well.

We had a luxury experience while still getting the nice ambiance of old town. That's exactly what we were looking for as we didn't want to be in a modern room that could be in any city in the world. Cour des Loges fit the bill and over delivered. If we are back in Lyon we will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel overlooking the garden have nice light coming in.

Thank you for your review.
We are glad you enjoyed Cour des Loges that much.
You perfectly describe the architecture and the atmosphere of the hotel located in the middle of a historic district.
You are right and as you could read in some of other reviews, our hotel is made for clients who appreciate history and a "different" hotel...
We look forward to seeing you.
