“Loved the Musee des Tissus!”

I enjoyed the Musee des Tissues and was pleasantly surprised at how interesting the exhibits were. The building the museum is housed in is beautiful as well.

“Musee des Tissus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 December 2011

Very interesting exhibition, which is 2 museums in one. Spent longer at the Tissus part as we only had 25 mins before the Decorative Arts one shut for lunch.
There was an interesting exhibition of the robes used for the Black Virgin Marys used for processions.

“A pilgrimage for textile geeks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2011

Man, if you love textiles, decorative arts or costume history, this duo-museum is worth a stop in Lyon all by itself. The decorative arts side has an outstanding collection of furniture, ceramics, etc, even including a palanquin (or were there two?). The textile side has examples from ancient times to modern, with, of course, some incredible examples of silk manufactured in Lyon over the centuries. As someone who spent almost 25 years as a professional milliner, it was all I could do not to break into the cases and paw through the ribbon and brocade sample books on display. The gift shop also has some lovely textiles available for purchase.

“Cannot find any better if you like silk and fabrics”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2011

No words to say how beautiful and how rich. it includes some real rare pieces and it is absolutely enjoyable. Totally recommended for people loving decorative arts and as it is my case silk manufactures. Probably not so charming for and ordinary visitor that can anyway spend one or to hours and bring back some good feelings.
