This is a beautiful little restaurant in the old city near the castle. Eat outside or inside. But the inside is a simply decorated, light and airy oasis. We had the menu, spaghetti with seafood and the beef on skewers, accompanied by a glass of wine and followed by the cafe gourmand. This meant seven exquisite little desserts along with our coffee! All for 21e each. Not bad? Actually, the whole meal was delicious! And well priced.

Ordered a couple of menu plates that we found of a really good quality and for an excellent price, to be La France!

We spent the morning looking at various sites/sights in the Alpilles and then drove into Salon. Following the signs to "Centre Ville" we ended up in an underground car park, and this was the first restaurant we saw on emerging up the stairs to exit! However, all of the other customers outside were French, and it had a simple menu, so we gave it a try. The single guy serving was very nice. There were various formulas, but basically a fish main, a meat main, or a salad. I had the salad, and it was huge and very good. I thought I had to choose the protein, but it was explained to me that everthing listed could be provided. So my huge bowl of well dressed lettuce and tomato contained hard cheese, mozzarella, hot goats cheese on toast, smoked duck, cured ham, and chicken. My husband had the main course fish whih was risotto with prawns. He pronounced it excellent, but it looked a little modest in size, so he was able to finish my salad. However, we did have a little plate of nibbles to start, and a complimentary chocolate mousse and biscuits when we refused desert. A really good lunch and I thoroughly recommend the salad, which was excellent value.

This restaurant is in the old town, below the castle. The owner was friendly. There was only a choice of two starters and two main courses, which is a bit too limited. My meal was simple, but tasty - the sort of meal I could cook myself. My wife was disappointed with her meal, which was a piece of fish with boiled vegetables. The prices were okay.
