Relaxing Hotel next to Parc National des Calanques!

Review of Hotel 96
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2018
Hotel 96 is the perfect, relaxing, peaceful getaway. It is located 30 minutes outside of downtown Marseille and is right next to the beautiful Calanques National Park. My room was so clean and spacious! It had a huge map of Marseille above the bed which I loved. It also had a private patio to enjoy the garden view. There is nothing better than waking up to lush greens and nature! I was lucky that my room was right in front of the pool too! The pool is covered overnight so the water stays clean and refreshing. There is also a sauna to relax in. Breakfast is provided on site and includes the breakfast essentials. The staff are also super nice! Overall, this is just a lovely hotel to stay at if you’re visiting the national park or if you want a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life. I would love to go back and stay there again!

Hotel 96 is just what we were looking for in a summer break. A very comfortable room with a lovely bed, strong air conditioning(!) and a warm welcome. I get the feeling we were unusual staying 5 nights but there was plenty to do and see if you could bear the heat! We hired bikes from the hotel one day and cycled to the Prado beach for the day then another we took a taxi to the Centre - ville. The weather was wonderful and most days we had the lovely modern pool pretty much to ourselves. The resident dog was very sweet (we made a new friend!) and the lunch and dinner specially requested was delicious. We enjoyed raiding our mini bar and having a beer out on the terrace at night.

The only thing is that due to the location, having a car might have been a good idea. However there were still restaurants to go to locally walkable by foot in the village or cafe Ze which was a nice pizzeria after a pretty barren walk for 25 mins (persist - it was lovely food!)

As other reviews say - there is no bar or restaurant on site and no staff there after 7.30pm or so but that is part of the charm and why it is an oasis.

We are planning a trip back.

A lovely place... great rooms, so clean, great character but a few things didn't sit well with me.

The hotel is an extension of the families home- so when you are sat by the pool - the kids were running around shouting / screaming and it was the opposite of a relaxing day!!!!
I felt like I was imposing on their space rather than the reality that I'd spent a lot of money for a relaxing holiday at their hotel.

Another thing is the breakfast- which I learnt to love, but I thought it should be included in the price of the stay. As its self service ... down to squeezing your own orange juice. All cold - it seems excessive to pay €12 each for that a day.

There are specific rules that weren't told to us - so when I tried to order lunch at 2pm - when apparently last orders is 1.30pm - I had a bit of a telling off . The receptionist makes the food so I understand why they have these rules in place.

There is no bar/ dinner at night but a few lovely restaurants around but you have to have a car.

I did really enjoy this hotel but think people need to know this is a small hotel with a certain ways of running.

I would stay again as it is very charming.

Thank you.

Hotel 96 is truly a home away from home. Spacious clean rooms, super comfy beds and a home made breakfast served in the garden opposite the pool. All staff are friendly and very welcoming. Thanks for making our start to road trip in the south of France a memorable one. Will be back!

Hotel 96 is truly amazing. In a beautiful setting, with stunning gardens and a lovely swimming pool.
You can enjoy some peace and quiet and it's a short drive away from Marseille and the local beaches.
The service was really outstanding, we had some problems with our car rental and the staff was always extremely helpful and kind to us and our children.
We have started to recommend it to our friends for a family holiday and we hope to be back soon.
Thank you guys, keep up the great work!

When arriving at Hotel 96 you don't really know what you are getting into because you drive some very narrow streets up to a gate that is marked with the hotel name and you can't see anything inside the walls.
Once inside there is pleanty of space and beautiful surroundings and we received the friendliest service there of all of the places we visited in France, where they welcomed us with homemade lemonade and helped us with our bags. The room was modern and clean and we could sit outside in the evening in a small terrace.
While visiting the Calanques, we had the ufortunate experience that someone broke one of our car windows and the staff at Hotel 96 was just amazing in helping us out with that.
A great place to stay outside of the center of Marseille if you plan on visiting the Calanques.
