This hotel was a surprise in a very interesting, diverse and complex city.
We had a suite with a view overlooking the port and the room was simply luxurious. An oversized bathroom with separate soaking bath and a large shower. The room was very spacious and the design was soft contemporary.
We started our 3 night stay with a couples massage in the spa. It was just the right tempo to settle in for exploring such an interesting city. Although we did not use the indoor swimming pool it did look inviting and comfortable.
You can walk to several neighborhoods, all on or below several hilltops, or down to the port and explore the multitude of cafes.
The hotel's outside terrace can get rather busy but the food and service were always on point. And it offers a nice view to the port and a perfect view of Notre-Dame de la Garde.
Dinner at the Alcyone restaurant, onsite, has a deserved Michelin star. The room service was also good quality and again the staff were extremely friendly. The concierge was knowledgable and was able to offer excellent information about timing to visit different sights and what we could expect to encounter.
We will return to the InterContinental Marseille-Hotel Dieu to use as a base to further explore the Provence region.More
