Villa Saint Exupery certainly lives up to their name and there are very little that they do not know about the surroundings. Friendly staff, Free breakfast, really good prices at the bar as well as Beautiful meals for dinner. Easy access to anywere with maps provided. Thank you for a great experience.

Room Tip: Resepsion knows it all

REALLY FUN hostel but FAR from the beach and main attractions etc. which is a bit annoying as you can really come and go from the hostel as you have to pay for the tram etc and walk up the hill!
there is a shuttle bus provided but only between certain hours so if you want to go out/catch the tram not in those hours you have to walk!
also, our train in the morning was at 7am and the shuttle didn't start till 8 therefore we walked down to the tram with our bags in the early hours which was fine but they were heavy!! we were offered a taxi for 25€ which we thought was an absolute rip off as you could walk 10mins and get the tram for 1€ so i would not recommend getting the taxi!!!

rooms were clean and lockers for valuables were available so that was GREAT! we were in a 5 bed girl dorm and if we went back we'd defo opt for a mixed dorm as we felt it would be more sociable and easier to met people to socialise with in the common room!

wouldn't recommend the villa saint exupery hostel for solo travellers as the HUGE common room/bar can be pretty daunting if you're on your own, as there is LOTS of BIG groups of people together!

PIZZAS were great and REALLY cheap!!! also, there were lots of other food options too which sounded tasty, so i recommend eating there!!! OH! and the browny was SO good!!

BAR was fab, open till 2am which was FAB!!! and especially as it is a treck to get to the main attractions/bars it was good to have a lively option to stay in!!!

overall good price and there was lots of options available for activities in the day! but make sure you book as they sell out quick!!!

Firstly, be warned, this hostel has nice prices but is definitely catering to the youth traveling Europe. The accommodations are definitely standard hostel, clean, sparse, young (but very very kind and helpful) staff. My husband and I got a private room, no double beds, only twin bunks. Not very sexy, but I can't complain. The room was clean, bathroom clean. The hostel provides you with only a fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillow and towel. If you're a cold person you'll need to rent blankets from the staff. The weather was nice enough to sleep with the windows open, but unfortunately the hostel bar/restaurant was below our window and kids were outside drinking and smoking until the better parts of 3AM. This was not so lovely, but we were able to overlook this for the cheap price. The other thing to note is that any travel book you get will not have a map large enough to include where this hostel is located. It is truly located at the top of an absolutely huge hill; the upside is that the staff runs a free shuttle between the tram stop from 8AM - 12PM and then 5PM - 12AM and the local tram system is pretty efficient if you get into the Nice Ville train station. They will also pick you up if you have luggage and you call their toll free number. This is definitely redeeming, but don't expect to walk out of your hostel and be in downtown Nice. Overall it was a good place to stay, if you can afford a hotel closer to the Vieux it would probably be worth it, but if you're a cheap student or world traveller its probably the best bet for you.

Room Tip: Book early - they fill quickly and are nearly constantly full.

The hostel itself is fabulous, although a little bigger than I usually prefer being a (slightly) older traveller - and there were a lot of gap year travellers which can be a little painful. You can't fault the place - spacious, clean, lots of tours offered, great bar (have a Boston Shaker - awesome), wifi and internet, good food at a decent price.

The staff are fantastic, friendly and knowledgable and very enthusiastic. You could be forgiven for wondering if you'd somehow strayed into Australia though, it felt like 80% of both the staff and guests were Aussie.

My only fault is location - they have a great system set up with a shuttle bus to the tram stop from 8-12/5-12 and the tram is only 1 euro into town, but the system gets clogged and you can wait a fair bit of time for a ride. Note that it's very easy to walk to the tram stop, it only takes 10 minutes (coming back up the hill would be less fun). I also found the break between 12-5pm where there was no bus to be annoying.

I felt it to be a bit pricey - but hey, that's France for you. Hostelbookers offered a cheaper rate than Hostelworld just out of interest, we each saved about 20 euro.

I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a social atmosphere, a pretty location and a great common area.
