I stayed at this hotel for a week long's stay with a friend of mine. We visited Nice with the intention of speaking and embracing the French language, as we had been studying it for a while. We weren't too sure what to expect as it was our first independent trip and you hear about several holiday disasters. HOWEVER, I can confidently say that the hotel was great. The room was of a good standard, with a nice tidy bathroom with all that we needed. We shared a twin room and the two single beds were comfortable and made up every day if we wanted our rooms attended to (also including the emptying of ours bins and replacement of our towels). We also had a decent sized television, with a wide variety of channels. Although the English channels often had low signal, this wasn't an issue for us as we found that the French TV was just as enjoyable and really enhanced our knowledge of the language, as we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the language. On arrival, a very friendly member of staff informed us of everything we needed to know; breakfast times, the time the doors are locked (you can ring the bell if you need to enter after this time and they will happily come and open them for you) and he also advised us on good restaurants to visit and some good areas in Nice (and surrounding areas) to explore. This gentleman was always very bubbly when we left and entered the hotel, always pausing whatever he was doing to say 'salut' or 'bonjour' etc, and on several occasions stopped to engage in conversation with us, always in a very polite and pleasant manner. This also gave us a good opportunity to practice our French, although the hotel staff are able to speak in a variety of languages, including English, so this became very useful when we weren't quite able to understand the complex French language! All of the staff that we encountered always spoke to us around the hotel, making our experience very pleasant. Moving onto breakfast. I had previously seen reviews complaining about the lack of choice at breakfast. However, for the affordable and reasonable price we paid, we were extremely pleased with what was on offer. Each morning, fresh croissants, pain du chocolat's, plain baguettes, bread for toast (with spreads), ham, cheese and cereals were offered, as well as fresh juices, water and milk. Also, the hot drinks machine in the lounge area became of good use, as we knew we didn't have a kettle included in our hotel room. We were informed that we could use this machine as often as we liked (and we did because there was a good choice and they were lovely!) and there was also a little 'candy bar' downstairs where we could grab some chocolates or sweets if we felt a bit peckish when entering our leaving the hotel. Breakfast times were from roughly 7ish until 10.30, therefore it meant that we didn't have to wake up too early to have something to eat at the hotel, proving to be very useful for us! The free WIFI service on offer was of good quality and the signal was always brilliant, never failing whenever we wanted to get in touch with our friends/family via social media. Additionally, as this was our first visit to Nice and France as a whole, we weren't too sure of how to go about organising transport to the airport from our hotel. Therefore, I approached a lovely young lady who arranged a taxi/shuttle for us at a suitable time, after I told her what time we would like to leave the hotel. During our stay, there was some construction work being done on the upper floors, and we were informed of this on arrival. However, this didn't prove to be an issue, as there was no loud noises or nuisance movements that disturbed us, therefore this was not an issue at all. The accessible lift in the hotel allowed us to move our luggage up to the second floor without having to struggle up the stairs. Overall, we were over the moon with the standard of the hotel room (including a small balcony allowing us to observe the busy city life of Nice from our room on an evening) and I cannot fault the staff who were on hand during our visit as they were always happy to help, especially the bubbly gentleman who made us feel welcome whilst always putting us in a great mood with his humour! My friend and I have both said that we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Nice and if we ever decide to return to the city, we would happily book into this hotel, confident that we would receive a similar, pleasant, enjoyable stay again.
