Just one street away from the main fountain and Cours Mirabeau so it's an easy distance from everywhere. Nothing fancy- just a standard 3 star hotel but I appreciated that it was smaller and not too crowded as there are only a few rooms. Beware- there are no elevators! The man at the reception desk was very nice and helpful and it was a good base for our 3 day stay in Aix. We were upgraded to a triple room even though there were only two of us so it was a large room, which we definitely appreciated! Breakfast cost extra but the buffet had a nice variety and the cost was less than if we had gone out for breakfast somewhere. All in all we enjoyed our stay and it is a nice, budget hotel.

This hotel is ideally situated, just a few minutes walk from the Cours Mirabeau and all Aix's shops and restaurants. And the welcome from the staff was perfectly friendly and helpful - as we were a few minutes early we were shown to the bar and offered a glass of water. But the hotel is kind of run-down and appears to be in desperate need of a refurb. Again, our room was ok and had the usual amenities - mini-bar, flat-screen tv, toiletries etc - but the plaster was peeling off the wall in one area and masking tape had been put across the A/C vent, so that it squealed loudly when turned on. I can't comment on breakfast as we left too early in the morning. Overall, just a bit soul-less for my taste. (For the record, I had specifically requested a 'quiet room' so was a bit disappointed to find us right on the main street - and it was pretty noisy, despite the insulation). We paid €129 for one night - not particularly expensive but perhaps dearer than it warrants.

I would definitively come back. Clean hotel, breakfast OK, excellent location to discover the old town of Aix. Only bad point is the very tight garage. If you want to open the window during the night, don't go for a room on the front side, it is much too noisy during the night

Hôtel Artea was a great surprise in Aix. We rented apartments in the other cities we visited, but since we couldn’t find an interesting place in Aix we decided to go for a hotel. The room was very spacious, which was great since we were travelling with our 16-month daughter. Great bathroom and awesome shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, walking distance from the bus station where we arrived from the TGV station – and also from which we took a bus later to Marseille. It’s a block away from the famous Cours Mirabeau, near many restaurants. We really recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor which was great because we had a baby and a stroller to carry everytime...

We stayed three nights here. The personnel are super friendly. The rooms are a little loud - you can hear conversations next door. But we slept well. Breakfast is adequate. Costs twelve Euros. If you just want a coffee and croissant, there are plenty of cafes nearby where you'll pay less. Rooms are clean and well kept.

Room Tip: Rooms facing back are quieter
