Dinner, Aug. 1, 9 p.m. reservation. My sister-in-law, my wife, and I sat at the corner table. The restaurant is decorated in subdued tones, the tables are nicely spaced-out, the tableware is Limoges, the easy chairs are very comfortable. We were greeted by the chef's wife who enquired about our various allergies and came several times to our table to ask if everything was OK. All members of staff were discreet, efficient, and well trained. We chose the 7-course tasting menu which proved to be absolutely delicious (the tuna and truffle was out of this world and so was the extraordinary mille feuille but all the other dishes were superb). The Pouilly Fuissé recommended by the sommelier was the best we have ever tasted (and we have tasted many). When we ordered a taxi we were told there weren't any available (guess why Uber is so successful) but the chef's wife very kindly insisted on driving us home in her own car--this is what I call perfect service. All in all a well-deserved reputation.

This is a wonderful restaurant without question. Located near the river, the minute you enter you know you are going to have a fine dining experience. Amazingly, coat and tie were not required, but the staff is elegantly attired and timed everything about the meal perfectly. The hostess was very gracious and especially helpful to all the diners at the end of the meal when the credit card machine malfunctioned and she efficiently assisted those in need to get to the nearest ATM to arrange payment. The restaurant is very quiet and the seating very comfortable so you can enjoy the meal peacefully and without hassle. The presentation is beautiful and the food worthy of the Michelin multiple star status. Though not inexpensive, we thought it was a great value for a Michelin listed restaurant with ample portions and a superb waiting staff. I strongly recommend making reservations well in advance. It is surely one of the best places to eat in Rouen and for that matter in the Normandy region.

My wife and I recently did a tour of Normandy, during which we spent a couple of delightful days in Rouen. We had booked Restaurant Gill, as the obvious place for our fine dining evening. It was all that and more.

The two Michelin stars are very well deserved here. The interior is contemporary, subtle and extremely comfortable. The food, wine and service were off the charts good. We began with a crab dish that was delicious, then had their Rouen-style roasted pigeon which defies description. If was wonderful, and possible one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. It was very easy to find a wine that beautifully accompanied this fine meal. The biggest surprise was the bill. It was surprisingly small for such a grand feast.

A first class gastronomic experience. Knowledgeable, charming staff, excellent service and superb food, beautifully executed. We enjoyed the seven course tasting menu with the addition of complimentary amuse bouche, pre-desert and palette cleansing post desert of basil sorbet. Cannot say one bad word about the experience from start to finish.

One of the highlights of our week in Normandy was our wonderful lunch at Restaurant Gill on the quai in Rouen. It's a 2 star Michelin and each course was exquisite- taste and presentation. If you have time, I highly recommend it.
