I ate with two friends and will remember the experience without a doubt.

We had the taster marine which represents excellent value at roughly £8 per course for 12 courses at the current exchange rate

Yes..12 courses accompanied by good service although the staff do struggle with English. We choose two excellent wines which were served appropriately chilled

Surrounding are very conducive although I'd recommend you eat later rather than earlier as the atmosphere certainly picks up after 9pm

Walkable from central Rouen this should be a must see for any epicurean visiting Rouen

For our first night in France, we wanted to have a really special meal and this restaurant did not disappoint. We were very tired having arrived at 6:30 AM in Paris from the US, so a tasting menu made choosing our dinner easy. Unlike my husband, I do not eat meat, but the chef already had alternatives for pescatarians. The meal was superb as was the atmosphere. The service was impeccable and the decor was beautiful.

Some very successful plates, but enough gaffes and poor execution to prevent a recommendation or a return visit.

Modern, and a bit overly bright decor. Three menus from 47€ to 95€ (plus an all lobster option at 99€); we took the middle road at 69€ for five courses. Portions are modest.

Amuses were rather bland little nibbles, beautiful but with mainly fat as flavor. A delicate tiny radish salad with Japanese riffs was superb, but the foie gras raviolis had tough pasta and the taste of the liver was lost in the mix. The "barely cooked" (read sous vide) salmon was good. The smoked cod was a barely cooked, beautifully flavored work of culinary art, but prior to being plated, the fish was presented table-side in its smoking basket, unveiled with a great plume of the smoke which really ablated one's senses for a while.

The final savory course was beef stewed to elemental shreds, and salted to a mouth-puckering and blood pressure elevating level hard to comprehend. This may have been an homage to some obscure peasant dish, but it bordered on inedible.

Wine was very problematic. As one would imagine in a Michelin one-star, you are going to have to push close to the 100€ mark to get a halfway decent bottle, and even if you want to go slumming, entry-level prices are mid-40€s. There are the obligatory trophy bottles. Only high-end champagnes by the glass.

We are serious wine types, and have often had some good luck with wine pairings when offered. The Origine option was not a good experience. For 24€, three modest glasses were on the lineup, two whites and a red. That's not good math with five main plates. The two whites showed up with the first and third plates, but the server rapidly mumbled through the dissertation in French (fine, one of us speaks very good French) but left us in some confusion as to what we were imbibing. Decent stuff however. But when the regrettable beef course arrived, the wine course seemed to have ended. We had to hail a waiter to finally get the red, but didn't get the dog and pony show to go along - instead of the very, very young "sommelier," this wine was brought by the flag-ee and plonked down with the single disclaimer; "'Bergerac'.

The "pre-dessert" was a mini-serving of the dessert on the least expensive menu; main dessert was primarily an exercise in clever construction rather than exploration of flavors.

Plating was of course lovely as one would expect at this level.

We were struck by the demographic of the waitstaff; very young, indeed. We think having some adults around would be a good thing.

What a treat! I went to Origine with my daughter yesterday @ lunch time. We had the choice between 5 menus (from 95 euros to 37) we took the "découverte" (discovery) @ 47 euros. It was delicious, from the "mise en bouche" to the dessert! We also took the pairing wine which were really interesting and matched the food perfectly.
The waiters were very nice and friendly. We had a really great time.

Attractive exterior facade & interior decor. Staff highly professional & pleasant.(including the owner) Each beautifully presented dish, comprising of the highest quality products, left a long-lasting mixture of tastes in the mouth. Equally impressive range of quality wines to match. Public utilities impeccably clean.
This is not a restaurant for clients who adore copious quantities of food on their plate, but for those who appreciate quality, style and careful preparation. French cuisine at its best!
