Visited the basilica around 14:30 pm. Some tourists, who all behaved very well (what a difference when you compare that with the hordes that visit the Notre Dame in Paris), and quite a few pilgrims. We all more or less disappeared in the enormous church.
Nothing like the old Gothic churches but most of the windows, paintings, frescos, etc are beautiful, intriguing, and fitting.
Hopefully it has a calming effect on all visitors as it had on us.
