This is not a judgment on the hotel where I couldn’t stay but on the way the hotel is managed. I booked and paid in advance a room for one night. I arrive at the hotel last Saturday morning and they say that they are sorry but the lady who was supposed to leave my room was sick and she couldn’t move. They say that they asked to a colleague to give me another room. So I should have slept in the other hotel and have dinner and breakfast in the St. Charles.
The problem is that the other room they found for me was not a proper room but a closet.
I had no choice because all hotels were full and because I didn’t want to oblige the old sick lady to move in the closet. By the way, the minimum I expected was that they SPONTANEOUSLY reimburse me (as it was clear that the closet had to be cheaper) and maybe even offer me the dinner for the inconvenience. And instead I had to argue to let them give me my money back. They let me pay the dinner and I had to negotiate on my side a cheaper price with the other hotel.
My feeling was that the owners of the St. Charles were very petty and greedy people.More
