We have just spent the most wonderful week in Carcssonne in Apartment Antoine Marty. Our hosts, Peter and Mike were just fantastic and looked after our every need during our stay. The apartment is well situated near the centre of town and within walking distance of the old Cite and the town square. We were able to make ourselves instantly at home and there was a great bakery downstairs open 7 day a week and shops supermarkets and the market minutes away. It was lovely to have such a luxurious yet homely place to stay while exploring the sites around this wonderful part of France.
From the time Mike and Peter met us at the station to show us this extraordinary apartment until we reluctantly left the keys behind as we left, a week later, my companion and I lived lives of comfort bordering on luxury. Absolutely everything one could need had been anticipated and was in an armoire somewhere.
The closeness of the apartment to the delightful Bastide section of town provided a wonderful Saturday market full of gastronomic delights; in the square a boulangerie offered daily treats. Post office, banks and a helpful information office were all nearby.
Having the train and bus station just around the corner greatly helped us explore the region. Toulouse is WELL worth a day or two on its own.
A word of caution, however. Peter and Mike's decorating skills could make you dangerously dissatisfied with your OWN place, when you return; it did for me!
Secondly; the shower in the twin-bedded suite deserves a health warning: YOU'LL NEVER WANT TO GET OUT!
Thank you, Peter and Mike. Your place is a palace-away-from-home!
What an amazing apartment. We have stayed all over the world and this has to be the most stunning of them all.
A stones throw from the station and a leisurly 10-15 minute walk from the walled Cite. The location is very cosmopolitan yet traditional in a very comfortable neighbourhood.
The interior is immaculate. plenty of room for 2 couples with all needs taken care of. Classy traditional french decor with so many elegant finishing touches. Mike and Peter have it spot on.
We felt as if we were royalty for the weekend.
Plenty of restaurants close by, a bustling weekend market down the street and a supermarket across the square.
A short walk along Antoine Marty to the river gives you one of the best views of the Cite imaginable.
If you stay in Carcassonne, Apartment Antoine Marty is the place the be.
Fantastic accommodation near the centre of town near canal midi. It felt like staying on a film set. The apartment is so quirky. It is so clean and finished to a high standard. There is a lovely balcony for coffee and croissants in the morning. Next door is a bakery which sells hot pain au chocolate. Loved staying here. Would strongly recommend for weekend in Carcasonne. So easy to get to from Uk fly Ryan Air from East Midlands. 10 minute taxi ride from airport. Perfect!
The apartment was even more amazing than the one we stayed in last year, (Apartment Saint Michel) it is huge! The decor and facilities within the apartment are brilliant, the beds so comfortable. Location wise it is great, not 20 paces from the front door is a bakery, (wonderful bread) a few paces further down is a Tabac (you may need that), where you can also get a supply of bottled water (you may probably need that too), and they have a small selection of not bad wine (You will need that!! ). Going the other way its a 5 minute walk to the Train station (where the shuttle bus from the airport stops) and opposite there a street where there are loads of shops and the Monoprix, which has all the food and and stuff you would need to stay in the apartment. Mike greeted us at the apartment and was very helpful and supportive in pointing out various things in the city. We are looking forward to our next visit!
