Park Montsouris is a beautiful park situated in the heart of Montparnasse, Paris. It is an ideal place to relax or picnic with your friends and family. The park has ample place for kids to play and also has a nice jogging track. It also has an lake and railway tracks also pass through certain part of the park. The main feature of this park is its beautiful trees and well kept meadows. Visit on weekends or a sunny day to make most of it.

This is a good place for a stroll or to take a packed lunch or picnic and watch theomnipresent joggers. If you're here it's worth heading across to the Cite Universitaire to see Le Corbusier's Swiss Pavillion and Maison du Bresil which are close by.

We visited in early October and there were still flowers in bloom. Walking around the lake was nice and there were some totally amazing trees. There were a lot of walkers and joggers and even a yoga class going on. There is a play ground for kids. We also saw several varieties of birds as well as a turtle. We recommend a visit if you are in the area.

One of the 3 great gardens " à l'anglaise" ( english fashion) conceived in the XIXe century, systematically thought by engineers-gardeners of the Emperor Napoleon III. He admired London Parks, when he was young and exiled with his parents in England, and he wanted, when he entered in politics, to transform the capital of France, until now a tightly narrow network of old streets. He put Baron Hausmann at the head of a team of architects, gardeners, engineers... and busyness men! Much money to do! l Well! and they made the modern Paris, with its grand avenues and boulevards, with some of its most beautiful gardens: Parc Montsouris, Buttes Chaumont, Parc Monceau, and the 2 "green lungs" of the Capital: the Bois de Boulogne, in west, and tne BOis de VIncennes, in east. Napoleon the 3rd ( nephew of the famous Napoleon the 1st,) thought thoses large gardens should be good for workers to relax and breathe out of the city. When young, afraid of english and french workers living and working conditions, the young prince wrote a socially oriented book: "l'extinction du paupérisme" ( extinction of poverty), that lead him to be more than only a new sovereign.
This one, is on a great slope, a large perspective, up from Paris to the outskirts international campus of Paris: La Cité Universitaire". You'll find and enjoy here many large "prairies", Trees massifs, nice shadowed paths for jogging, and even a good ( a little expensive) restaurant, and, useful meteorologic place: the Paris Observatory,

A beautiful, large, well-kept park at the outskirts of Paris. Old trees, flowers, ponds among winding lanes. Easy and free access.
