Great little hotel, warm reception and friendly service, lovely little lobby with great books on Paris. My room though small in size was not a problem, as I am petite, and also had no intention of staying in during my stay in Paris. It was on the top floor, with windows that opened onto the other buildings. The furnishings were modern in design and minimalist, Loved the shower though I had to ensure that the shower doors were properly closed. The location was perfect for me. It's close to the Gare de Lyon, the Bastille, the Seine, the Opera House, Ile St Louis (a must) very close to the Vosges and the weekly market, and about a 20 minute walk to Centre Georges Pompidou.
I chose the Bastille de Launay for its location, for its size ( I eschew large and flagged hotels), and for its posted room rate. .As well as for its proximity to Gare de Lyon for the following reasons - I was travelling solo flying into CDG toting weighty luggage, had planned to use the Les Cars Air France for my ground transportation into Paris and one of the stops was at the Gare, had to pick up a preordered ticket for the Musee D'Orsay from the FNAC outlet located at the Gare, and it was the station for the TGV to Avignon. (If it is your first time visitng Paris, or if you are returning after 10 years or so, I suggest the Les Cars Air France. For 19 euros, it is a hassle free ride into Paris from CDG airport. You only need to choose either Line 2 or 4 depending on the location of your hotel in the city.)
The hotel is approximately 20 minutes by foot from Gare de Lyon, or one could jump into a taxi, or Bus #20 would drop you on a street parallel to Rue de Amelot. (A word of caution - always check the monitors at the bus stops to confirm that your line is running - a bus could be rerouted for a number of reasons).
I must commend Michel, at the reception, who was always so pleasant and friendly. It was always so pleasant to return to the de Launay where I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine interest in how my day went. Will I stay again? Most definitely.

Room Tip: A room on the higher floor facing the alley should be quieter.

We stayed four nights in early July and really enjoyed our visit. The staff are so friendly and welcoming!!!! Yes the rooms are small, but it's extremely well located and reasonably priced. Enjoyed opening our window and looking out onto the Parisien street. The Marais/Bastille area is full of vibrant restaurants and cafes, and the metro nearby makes travelling in Paris extremely easy. We will definitely return to Bastille de Launay on our next trip to Paris :)

I cannot say enough good things about this adorable and wonderful hotel or the amazing people who work here!! The staff were friendly, professional and spoke perfect English in addition to French and several other languages. They truly went out of their way to welcome us and did whatever they could to help make our time in Paris even more enjoyable. This was especially true of Oliver, the hotel manager, who was just phenomenal and helped friends of ours who were traveling with us even though they were not guests at the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location in the Marais with lots of interesting cafes, bakeries and shops in walking distance. It is also conveniently located near a few different metro stops that make it easy to get around the city. The hotel is well-decorated and quite comfortable, from the charming interior courtyard with its planters and brightly colored tables and chairs to the lovely lobby where you can have espresso, tea or cocktails while relaxing, spending time with friends, or using the computer and printer that is complimentary for guests. Even the breakfast is so much better than the typical continental breakfast that you usually find in a hotel with a good selection of food and beverages including large mugs of delicious coffee :)

The rooms are warm and inviting and are of fairly standard size for Paris. They are very clean, well-maintained and thenbeds are very comfortable. There is also free wifi. The great reviews on trip advisor are completely deserved. If you have the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Bastille de Launay, I would highly recommend doing so. I can't wait to come back and will absolutely stay here again!!

We chose this hotel after reading many reviews on hotels in Paris, and really loved Bastille de Launay. Hotel room was small, as they are in Paris, but enough room for our suitcases. Beautiful french door windows which opened up to let in some fresh air. Friendly, welcoming staff who appreciated our attempts to speak French, but spoke perfect English.

Hotel is in the perfect location just behind Rue Beaumarchais which is filled with restaurants, shops, banks etc. Its about a 5 minute walk to Bastille & metro station, though there is a closer one (Chemin Vert) which we didn't use as it didn't seem to go anywhere useful! Its also very easy to walk to Notre Dame and the main attractions along the Seine - took us about 15 minutes to walk to Notre Dame, with restaurants, cafes everywhere. A great place to stay!
