Even through Hotel Excelsior Latin is only a 3 star hotel it was wonderful and our favourite hotel that we stayed in during our whole trip to Europe. Our family of four stayed in the comfort suite on the 2nd level, and when we first arrived we were a little worried as it was right off the main staircase and behind this really funny looking maintenance door (we thought we had the wrong door). We were worried about how the noise would be in this location but it was perfectly fine and we hardly heard anything from outside the room. Check in at the hotel was extremely fast, it was the only hotel where our passports didn't need to be seen and copied, and it was funny (and sweet) in this day and age to get a key on a large key holder rather than a key card. The hotel and our hotel room was simply charming and decorated so well. When we walked into our suite the first room contained 2 twin beds for our children, a chair that pulled out into a twin bed,TV and opening window, then if you continued around the corner there was a separate toilet, followed by a bathroom with a shower and bath and then the main bedroom with a queen bed, desk 2 chairs, 1 armchair and TV. Although there wasn't a closet there was an area to hang clothes and a huge amount of shelving. The room also had a safe to place our passports etc. For Paris, we felt that the comfort suite and its rooms were very well sized and we loved our corner opening windows which opened into the courtyard in the center of the hotel....it felt so very French. The only thing our room didn't contain which would have been good were tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. But even so, even though the room didn't have these facilities like the other hotels we stayed in, we would stay here again, and as I said it is a 3 star hotel so it made sense that a couple of these amenities were not included in our suite. The rooms also had great curtains for keeping out the morning light and the rooms were cleaned very well each day. Our shower at the very beginning flooded a little, but we removed the main cover which slipped to the side of the drain, and it stopped this from happening again. At the end of the day this is a very old building possibly with a lot of old plumbing. Downstairs in an area off the main reception was a vending machine, seating areas, and a dining area where you could have breakfast (10 euros each it was okay but so many places to eat at in the 5th arr.) tea and coffee making facilities and some free pastries during the morning. Your suitcases can also be placed in a holding area, for several hours, if you don't need to leave the hotel until later after you have checked out. We had a limousine service pick us up at the end of our trip and take us to CDG airport and that was about a 50 minute drive on a very busy Friday lunch time. Also when we returned to Paris at one part of our trip from Amsterdam, via the Thalys train at Paris Nord, we were able to catch the metro, with our suitcases, to Hotel Excelsior. Outside the hotel are also bikes for hire, if you are game, and I think if you have the app on your mobile phone. The location of Hotel Excelsior is wonderful and so many bars, restaurants and shops in this area as well as it is close to so many attractions. A Pre A Manger store also opened up right around the corner, whilst we were staying at Hotel Excelsior, and this store has lots of ready to go fresh food options (including vegan). I would also like to compliment Alex on the front desk of Hotel Excelsior, her customer service was wonderful, and she was so friendly, polite and helpful, a real asset to the hotel!! And lastly about a block away was a metro stop, which we used to get to the Palace of Versailles. For out family this was an awesome hotel!!

Room tip: If you are traveling as a family try and get the comfort suite.

Pretty basic hotel, but still nice. There were 5 of us and we got a room with 3 twins and 1 double. It was nice that their shower and toilet were separate, so two people could be getting stuff done. :) Had mini fridge and a microwave. It wasn't big enough to want to "hang out" in (plus, we're in Paris, we didn't want to be in the hotel), but it wasn't cramped at all, either. Friendly desk staff helped us organize shuttles to the airport, too.

I would recommend staying here!

Close to metro station for airport. Reasonable walk to Notre Dame and river tour hop on/off. Room was adequate although air conditioning barely kept room cool. No safe or restaurant. Front desk staff friendly enough.

The hotel is on a quite street but located within walking distance to attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. English speaking. Breakfast area was crowded. No in room refrigerator. As with many European hotels the lift was very small.
