“Exactly what I wanted from Paris!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

I was looking for a hotel that was Parisian. I was going to stay in Paris for several days and then head off to Africa. It was perfect. It had history, a balcony overlooking the Seine and the Louvre and a bathroom en suite. I didn't mind walking up stairs, I didn't mind street noise, I didn't mind opening my balcony doors to watch the Batton Mouches pass the river below every night, the sun setting on Notre Dame and I didn't mind being within walking distance to many fab restaurants, museums and great sights at all! I enjoyed the construction in the stairwell... it all told a story. Clean, safe and eclectic. The concierge was helpful and condescending in the most perfect way! Best stay and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: I enjoyed room on fourth floor. Noise level perhaps average with traffic, but, not horrible.

We spent five nights here the beginning of our European trip and three nights almost a month later prior to returning home. The location is easy walking distance from several major Parisian sites including the Louvre. Like most things in Paris, I felt everything was overpriced. The breakfast, a bread roll, croissant, small glass of orange juice and tea or coffee was ten euros per person. Some of the desk people made an effort while others gave blatantly erroneous or very vague information. Rooms were clean and maintained. The first visit the room was decent sized and quiet with a nice view. The last three nights the room was very small and quite noisy. The elevator is tiny, even by European standards. I believe a better hotel can be found for the 140 euros a night we paid for this one.

Everything was perfect! Location cleanliness, staff ...
Honestly I was nervous after reading guest reviews.
The only complaint was because the TV, we asked for a TV in our room ...

Room Tip: The twin rooms are biger. The fourth floor rooms have balconies.

Warning: if you are expecting a plastic-fantastic Holiday Inn or a museum like the Ritz with King Midas prices, this is definitely not the hotel for you.

The concept of the Quai Voltaire is simple: clean room (nice-sized), clean bathroom (again, nice-sized), with rooms overlooking the Seine and the Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries on the opposite bank. There is a bridge, the Pont Carrousel, right outside the door. The Musee D'Orsay is right up the street, within spitting distance, and the D'Orsay Metro stop will take you down to Versailles. Behind the hotel is the upscale St Germain des Pres neighborhood, crammed with antique shops and little restaurants. The hotel has a small tapestry-hung lounge, a simple breakfast-room, and a tiny reception area. If you are a light sleeper, the traffic outside on the road may be an issue. For the price and the location, the Quai Voltaire is the way to go.

Look I have no idea how this hotel is so far down the rating for Paris...if you are looking for a big modern chain like hotel this is not for you...but if you are looking for the classic Parisseinne small type old boutique type hotel well this is great. The rooms are very small but we paid extra for the bigger size. We had room 41 and my sister and her daughter had room 31 which was way bigger than ours (although we had a balcony but didnt really need it). The buzz and view is just like a picture. The Seine below and The Louvre straight across. Every day/night we explored the streets behind and tried a different bistro/cafe each day. The homewares shops were breath taking and it is a great little area. Try Eric Kayser cafe for gorgeous cakes just close by. The bathroom was spotless, yes towels not huge and fluffy but they were fine and anything we asked for we got straight away. Yes there is one very rude man on reception but the rest of the staff were very friendly. (not sure if it would be too hot to stay here in summer though?) Tiny elevator. Yes a little noisy but it just added to the buzz and Paris is a huge and busy city.
