Neighbourhood: Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Description: 27, rue du Dragon: a cult address in the Saint Germain des Prés quarter. One that has played host to many of the world’s ‘beautiful people’ since it first opened in the 1950s: actors, singers, politicians and even some of the international élite. “Le Tout Paris” has graced the upholstered wall seats of the “Claude Sainlouis”. When, in 2011, the opportunity arose to stage a much admired come-back for this one-time king of bistros on the capital’s left bank, Cyril Lignac needed no second asking. Keenly aware of the venue’s history and spirit, the master chef restored the prestige and status of this Latin Quarter institution while carefully preserving the warm atmosphere and authenticity. Renamed “Aux Prés”, this cult Bistro serves typically Bistro-style cuisine with flavours from around the world. Uplifting cuisine inspired by the Chef’s travels and encounters. With, more than ever, pride of place given to French and foreign home produce.

Crouded, busy at sunday 10pm you must need reservation. A casual restaurant with hig, high cuality of food. The short rib and the black cod were superb, the crispy srimp with salad, exellent. The crispy rice with salmon, the ceviche and the madeleines as disert were OK they can be better. Wine at the price point, good service.

This is the most unpleasant experience I had in Paris. I am French, Parisian and I now live abroad. I came with a friend for dinner. I have never seen such a level of disdain in the way they treat people. We booked a table at 21:00, we were seating at the counter. At 22:15, so 1:15 after we got seated the “manager” came to ask in a very pushy way if we wanted something else to drink, we said no and at this moment we were still finishing our dessert. A few seconds after he brought us the check whereas we didn’t ask for it, we were rushed to pay and he simply asked to leave. At no point they mentioned that we would have the seats for a limited amount of time on the phone when we booked or when we arrived. So basically after a bit more than an hour the staff asked us to leave, with a check of 100 euros for 2 cocktails, 2 burgers and a shared dessert. This is a joke of a place, the food is good but certainly not worth this behavior, we strongly recommend to not go. Waiters just look at themselves, thinking they are very important people because the chef is on TV. This is a place with a ridiculously poor service whereas PARIS is full of better and nicer restaurants where you could spend a wonderful moment.

Would NOT recommend anyone coming to this restaurant. THEY ARE THIEVES! My husband and I were treated with such disrespect this weekend, our experience here really ruined our weekend. We came here for brunch, where they had a prix-fix menu. We asked if we could just order a la carte as we only wanted the main dish, and the waitress confirmed it was ok. The price of the prix-fix menu was 49/person, but somehow our bill came to $$$. They charged us for the prix-fix price PLUS the a la carte dishes (which were technically part of the prix-fix menu). The same thing happened to the table next to ours but they refunded the difference to them, but she kept treating us like tourists. We tried to have the same thing..we've lived in France for over 5 years and have been to Cyril Lignac's restaurants several times. Our French is really not that difficult to understand) Needless to say we are never returning to any of his establishments and hope you are advised to do the same

We had a last minute booking through our hotel, who recommended this place. We sat on the bar and had an entree to share, a main each, and dessert for one. My husband had a cocktail and I had two glasses of white recommended by the staff. He had let me try a bit first to decide if I wanted to commit to a glass. Excellent service - fast, professional, and friendly enough but not in your face. Food was delicious. My husband was not feeling well from a meal the previous day (from another restaurant) so he could not eat much which was a shame for him to have missed out! We would recommend this place for a relaxed, special night out.

We wanted to try this small restaurant for a while now, but it was always packed. We ended up going for a Sunday brunch here. This place is an expensive joke in poor taste! We must have paid over 50 euros each, for a basket of soft day old bread, one small glass of Tropicana juice and a dry croque monsieur (where did the ham and cheese go?!? Not to mention the bechamel sauce, that was nowhere to be seen) ... in any corner cafe in Paris you can get the same meal (but much better) for less than 20 euros! We were hoping at least for something minimally creative, after all, the chef’s name is all over the place. Even in the name of the restaurant - Aux Prés Cyril Lignac! How laughably pretentious of him.

So to the “chef”, Mr. Cyril Lignac, where is all your creativity and the love for an honest day’s work? Shame on you, and shame on us for falling for this SAD SAD tourist trap!
