Burning incense greets you at the door of the Cathedral. As you walk in, you know you are walking into history and into a huge part of the French Culture.
One is compelled to light a candle and pray for loved ones, even if one is not Catholic or even Christian; the sense of well-being and spirituality reigns.
I kept looking up at the top of the Cathedral hoping to catch a glance of Quasimodo as he watches over Esmeralda. Victor Hugo did well to set his masterpiece at this awesome Cathedral.

Notre Dame Cathedral Paris is worth a look .We had to line up for about 20 min .I preferred Saint Chapelle ,to me Notre Dame Paris was not as beautiful as the one in Montreal.Canada.

Timeless and ageless however packed with tourists. A side chapel featuring a lovely painting of an Asian Mary and baby drew large groups of tourists.

I was disappointed by the English tour guide I heard today. My wife said, "It is a free tour. You get what you pay for." The guide is a volunteer who doesn't know much about the cathedral or its history or (especially) Catholicism. I would avoid this tour unless you want to hear a lot of old clichés about the medieval church.
