“Cute Hotel, Amazing Staff”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

My fiance and I were staying in Paris for the weekend and booked last minute at the Hotel Gramont. We arrived pretty early in the am from the Eurostar and wanted to drop our bags off at the hotel before getting breakfast - until we could properly check in.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by two smiling faces. When we said we would check in later but if we could leave our bags, they started apologizing that our room wasn't ready. We told them we completely understood, we were very early for check in anyway, but they had us sit in their reception area and served us coffee, juice, and an assortment of croissants and pain au chocolat. Before we knew it, we were brought upstairs to our room which was small, but very nice and well decorated. We definitely were not expecting breakfast and to check in so early, but it just goes to show how friendly and accommodating the hotel is. I would not hesitate to come back for another stay.

After reading a lot of reviews on Tripadvisor, we decided on this hotel and are glad we did! The Gramont is right in the middle of everything, you can easily walk to the Louvre, the Opera Garnier and Gallery Lafayette. There are lots of nice to very nice restaurants within a 5 minutes' walking distance. It's also one of the few hotels in Paris that has family rooms and our children slept very well on the comfortable sofa-bed. The rooms are nicely decorated and above all very clean, as are the bathrooms which are very small, but also very clean and adequate. My husband had been staying at hotel Concorde Lafayette (4*), while attending a congress before joining us at the Gramont, and he liked the Gramont much better as it was cleaner (chairs in the CF were broken and dirty), cheaper and so much friendlier. That's exactly what I am looking for in a hotel: it has to be clean and the staff have to be friendly.
The breakfast, which we had at the hotel was good as well : croissants, pain au chocolat, bread to be toasted, 4 or 5 different jams, 4 to 5 meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, eggs , juices, milk, tea and coffee and more.
But, to repeat what other travelers have already mentioned, the staff really are the best. They are super friendly and willing to assist in any way 'avec plaisir' . They made several phone-calls to make reservations in restaurants and had good suggestions about where to eat. So thanks again Aurelie, Nicci, Sandra and the dark-haired girl who checked us in and whose name I did not catch. Thank you for making our trip so much easier as our French is not very good. We will return to Paris and then we'll certainly return to this hotel but we have to make sure we book well in advance, since it is often fully booked on weekends.

Having picked this hotel from the Tripadvisor reviews we were not disappointed. We booked direct and from that moment on the customer service was fantastic. We we arriving earlier into Paris and they arrange transport and had a room ready for us. The hotel has a lovely feel, being both traditional and modern. Our room was at the top so we had a balcony and while the view is not breath taking being able to sit out and look at the Paris skyline was worth it. The hotel staff can and do help with everything and there's a great personal feel to a central hotel. The location is good, very central once you get you bearing, the louvre is within walking distance, but several metro stations are close by. I would recommend and would stay here again when in Paris.

The hotel was ideally located for the Roissy Bus and within easy walking distance of the Opera, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay and most of the other usual tourist must sees. The advantage of the hotel was that although close to everything it was sufficiently tucked away to be quiet and calm at night time. The biggest plus to the hotel, which we only discovered on the last morning was the breakfast. Now it does depend on what you classify as a good breakfast but for me the choice of meats, cheeses, juices, pastries and coffee were enough to keep me going until the afternoon and at €13 was significantly better value than the neighbouring brasseries that we tried on the other days. The lift is snug so for those of you with claustrophobic tendencies the stairs may be a better bet. The room while not huge was perfectly ample for a couple of days in this beautiful city. The team on the front desk were excellent and really did count as a team for we met 7 different people during our time at the hotel most of which we spent out and about exploring the city. For those of you hoping for an area to shoot the breeze and mingle with other guests this is probably not the best option for you. There is a sitting area or lounge than is comfortable and provides newspapers, drinks and croissants but not somewhere you would really spend much time people watching unless you were prone to stalker type behaviour. The availability of a PC and printer in this area was invaluable for printing of boarding passes and much less cumbersome than the lengths I've had to go to in other hotels with logging on copying to my email then emailing the hotel and them then printing the boarding pass out. And I have to say it is the little touches that really made the visit so pleasant. The friendly staff, the location, the printer and the croissants all made for happy memories and we will be back.
